AtmosFear 3

AtmosFear 3 is a mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call Of Pripyat that tweaks and expands the vanilla weather system to be more realistic and various.

  • 7 dynamic weather cycles
  • Accurate sun position
  • Longer nights with the real moon that changes the phases.
  • Full weather cycle for Jupiter Underground
  • Increased vision distances
  • Altered weather behaviour
  • Different weather balance graphs for each area
  • 140+ new photorealistic sky textures
  • AtmosFear: Blowout - reworked blowout sequence
  • AtmosFear: Fallout - deadly radioactive and acidic fallouts occur in the Zone
  • AtmosFear: Psi Storm - new kind of weather anomaly that is very dangerous to unequipped stalkers.
  • Dynamic depth of field (DOF)
  • Optional high-resolution texture pack
  • Included option pack with various tonal range, night brightness, weather periods length and balance settings
  • Ambient Audio Overhaul Core by imperialreign
  • In game weather, event, night and other settings

3 additional dynamic weather cycles has been added to 4 existing in vanilla version. Also a full weather cycle has been created for Jupiter Underground.

The vision distances for some weather cycles has been increased (and reduced for other) so on a clear day you can now see almost across the whole area.

The weather behaviour has been altered.
There are now 2 main weathers cycles, good and bad. They change in 2h - 8h periods depending on the area. The weather still changes from hour to hour within each period.

Different weather balance graphs for each area have been implemented.
Zaton is often foggy as it is a swamp like area. Jupiter is mostly clear with more storms. Pripyat is rainy and stormy so don't expect much sun there.

Over 140 new photorealistic sky textures has been rendered for that mod.

The sun has accurate position accorting to the geographical (Chernobyl location) and astronomical (as for 15 Aug) data.

The night are longer and they are lit by the real moon that casts dynamic shadows and canges its phases

AtmosFear: Blowout
The mod replaces vanilla blowout sequence making blowouts dark and gloomy, showing strange atmospherical phenomena similar to aurora borealis (northern lights) due to high level of ionizing radiation. Particle waves sweeping across the area. New sound and environment effects created by imperialreign has been implemented. Various NPCs fate after blowout (those not in the cover). Various blowout warnings.

AtmosFear: Fallout
The Zone is now even more hostile as radioactive and acidic fallouts occur from time to time. They can cause significant damage if player caught in the open without decent protection from armor, artifacts or drugs. The nearest cover is shown on the minimap when radiation or biohazard levels become deadly. Acidic fallout very quickly degrades the armor/helmets.

AtmosFear: Psi Storm
Psi storms are the new kind of weather anomaly that is very dangerous to unequipped stalkers. Psi radiation cumulates in vortexes which generate high psi levels when they discharge. Decent armor/drugs protection reduces the mind damage but the vortexes are still dangerous as they generate hi-voltage electrostatic damage in close distance. Vortexes could spawn artefacts (although possibility to spawn is quite low - 5%) so after the psi storm don't forget to sweep the area with your detector.

THIS MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH COMPLETE COP!

Can't seem to install the mod properly. After selecting all the options and I go through to install it, I just get lot's of errors, saying that "source files do not exist" or something. All that gets extracted is the uninstall program. Help me out here D:

There should be 2 folders along the setup program after unpacking: data and docs. Use 7zip unpacker to extract 7z archive.

Got it working and properly installed after. Looks fantastic, runs fantastic, but there's always a fly in the ointment. In this case, it's the sky. Whenever it's dark in Zaton, like if there's a blowout or it's night, there are "rectangles" of different colored tints. It's a little subtle, but when you notice it, it really irritates you. I'm just wondering if I installed it the wrong way or something

Glad to hear that you managed to install AF2.1. These squares are the compression artifacts due to lowered quality/weight of textures in order to save RAM. You can install AF2.0 somewhere else and replace the textures in gamedata folder. Bear in mind that the ultra 2.0 version will require 400MB RAM more than the same 2.1 version.

Kinda confused to what I have to do here. I installed AF2 onto my desktop with the ultra textures and whatnot, but the size of the folders are the same as the folders that was installed into my CoP folder. I don't know what to replace what with what now. I have enough RAM to run it no problem, which is why I already selected the ultra textures when I first installed it. Sorry for taking up your time

After installing 2.0 on your desktop there should be gamedata\textures\sky folder. The filesizes from this folder should be about 2x bigger than from 2.1. Copy this folder to your real gamedata directory overwriting the files inside.

Thankyou so much. It's all working correctly now.

Just want to aplaud your efforts on this mod. Blowouts are "****-your-pants" menacing, the skies are totally sweet, and the atmosphere is enhanced. Just one question though. I was on the Jubilee building roof in Pripyat one night, waiting for a blowout. I noticed that the sky above the CNPP was as bright as day, and this was before a blowout happened. So what I'm wondering, is this a hint or a warning for a blowout?

wow what a great mod

im using this on the normal settings with blowout effects as i only hsve an ati x1650 and 2 gig of ram, but this mod runs very well for what it does, the fog effect is great and the new blow out makes you wanna hide in panic now lol

excellent mod, well done

Does this work combined with S.M.R.T.E.R ? And another question: Is this mod worth a try when you´re using static lighting? Cause my PC cant handle the advanced lighting. (everything else works on high with a good FPSrate tho)

It works with S.M.R.T.E.R. after merging the system.ltx file. This mod has been developed for hi-end graphic cards and dynamic lighting. You can still use it with static lighting but the sun position won't be correct. And bear in mind that this mod requires a lot of RAM.

This mod is stunning! It makes this game look so realistic. Just adds to what S.T.A.L.K.E.R is most known for, it's atmosphere.
