This is just to announce on the news page of this mod that the new version has been released, uploaded to the site!
Most of the relevant information is in the file's description, but I might as well share a few thoughts here too.

I promised SteamPipe support, but it seems Valve didn't want to co-operate here. Even with the GNU/Linux beta of Portal 2, the VPK format remains incompatible with that used in Orange Box games. Therefore, my dream of simply mounting assets from HL2 and Portal 1 into this game has been crushed - to mitigate this, I have packed necessary assets in with the mod, which is something I never wanted to have to do. Anyway, this means that the mod, like any good mod, is now just "drop in and go" on any OS that supports Portal 2!

There are two outstanding issues, which in my opinion are quite minor. I will no longer be searching for solutions, or actively developing this mod. If solutions come my way, I will implement them and release version 2.1, otherwise, this is the final version of the mod!

I'm still trying to figure out what to do after getting the energy ball into the "Elevator Power" socket, inverting the turret alignment and destroying every camera I can, but I'm not seeing any actual problems, so I'm guessing it's a puzzle.

Well, at least this gives me an excuse to fire up the SDK again and make a 1.1 version, maybe address some of the issues that have garnered such colourful criticism!

Twice, in fact. I had a feeling I'd missed it, so I started the whole mod again, but I honestly can't even find it. Hopefully when you fix this it'll be the last problem, because when it works, this mod is awesome!

Try the push-button at the start of the Chamber. (the corridor outside the den) Also, there's no need to restart the whole mod, there are chapters - I think number 5 is the one that has that chamber in it.

you obviously don't know how to mod... it installs a bunch of crap i doubt this mod even uses into portal 2 rather than only having the files it actually uses put into the mod itself. that, and your storyline is pretty dumb. not to mention most of what the installer spat out was errors. i dang hope i have a way to remove all that hl2 crap from portal 2 after i play this, because despite only choosing the minimalist option, it is actuallly taking up a lot of disk space, plus it messes me up as a developer because i'll have to remember what all the hl2 stuff is so i don't use it in my maps. thanks for a horrible mod file structure. i hope that the actual playthrough is better than this, or i am going to e-mail the moddb people to archive this horrible mod.

EDIT: "now for the good stuff! let's install the mod!" you are just plain retarded.... also, the RAD video tools ARE NOT REQUIRED for .bik's to play in the game. more completely wasted disk space...

RAD Video Tools are a *legal* requirement. Plus, as far as I can remember, I programmed the minimalist option not to let the HL2 stuff actually interfere with Portal 2 - removing it is quite simple.

it is not a legal requirement. valve never packed the video tools with portal 2, all they had to do was mention that they used it in the opening logos. PROOVE that it is a legal requirement to pack the tools with the mod that uses them. proove it. if you don't then ill just say "whatevr, bro. i tryed to give you advice, but you just made excuses to avoid imrpoving. bye bye."

they are talking about if you wish to distribute any .bik files, you must include the player that plays them. portal 2's engine should technically count, because it has the bink video playing tech built in. and again, valve uses .bik files in the game, yet does not include the tools. so, without further delay, "whatevr, bro. i tryed to give you advice, but you just made excuses to avoid imrpoving. bye bye."

I wasn't making an excuse, I genuinely believed it is a legal requirement. Also, Valve pays $$$ for the right to use Bink Video. More info: Developer.valvesoftware.com (See bottom of page.) Better safe than sorry, that's what I say!
