Angels Fall First: Planetstorm is an objective-based assault game fought both in space and on the ground. Featuring totally original art and completely new game types, we take you from flying gigantic capital ships, piloting fighters, and manning turrets to the traditional vehicular and infantry combat, both planet-side and inside the starships themselves. At your command are more than two dozen ships and vehicles, including all original weaponry, 3 maps with full bot support, two custom characters, with more on the way. Planetstorm Beta Released!


Welcome one and all to the next exciting release from the AFF: Planetstorm team. This build has been designated our BETA version, and focuses mainly on getting all the core features slick and playable, and we believe we've done that. This release is also our first to fully support online play, and we've had a dedicated server donated by CozmicShredder which we fully expect to see you all playing on in the coming weeks. For the short of patience, here's an at-a-glance feature list for the Planetstorm BETA release

IN GENERAL
  • Hugely improved UI
  • Hugely improved AI
  • Vastly more optimised content
  • Rebalanced and reworked weapons, ships and vehicles
  • Is actually a game now
  • Dedicated server will be running this build until august - COZWORLD.com AFF:Planetstorm (Or join by IP - 208.86.251.34 port 7777)
IN SPACE
  • Command and pilot Capital ships from the bridge
  • Operate ship weapon systems from the turret seats
  • All ships have new and complete interiors
  • Total immersion inside spacecraft - consoles short and spark, emergency lighting cuts in when the craft is damaged, sound of battle can be heard through the hull
  • Watch the battle from inside through the windows
  • Run down to the hangar and launch fighters , bombers or assault craft
  • Re-dock with your mothership to repair and re-arm
  • Use dropships to board enemy vessels and wreck their systems or kill their crew in unrestricted FPS stylee
  • Automatic fire control systems mean that you're never short of gunners
  • Repair ship systems on-the-fly with repair tools
  • Use Gravitic Induction technology to shift between newtonian and atmospheric-style flight
PLANETSIDE
  • Take on the enemy with a large arsenal of beautifully re-modelled and re-textured infantry weapons
  • Revive fallen comrades (or leave them to bleed)
  • Ride into battle on a dropship
  • Set booby traps with explosives and autoturrets
  • Squad AI means you gots backup
  • Bots revive people, dispense medipacks and ammo, plant turrets, do most of the things you can do

Honestly, we're still holding out for the RC3 version, which will hopefully be available in the next few days. It has some last minute bug fixes. So... if you guys can handle a wee bit more time waiting. It would be for the best to avoid having to redownload versions. :)

Nevertheless, if you guys have the bandwidth and/or the patience you can try out the RC2 version for the moment.

Apologies for the confusion, we're pretty much reduced to a bunch of frazzled devmonkeys the last few days. :P And as always, thanks heaps for the support.

install it in it's own folder, NOT in your ut3 install folder, eg as in the installer default or an equivalent on another drive

A few things I want to say, looking at this and the alpha side by side, this is SO much improved. It's amazing. Now, the one thing that amazed me, is the size of the map. I was playing Errah offline, and forgot that it was just one map in a game. having 64 player battles there would be epic. Even better would be if you can get 128 players.

In the end, the mod is amazing, and once you get the faces and what not done, it'll be even more amazing.

Yep, character models will be in by phase 4 (as well as the high poly ships). The concept art for this release actually shows how the improved ULA troop model will look like. It's already modeled and awaiting texturing and rigging. More will come very soon. :)

You know, most of those ships are still lowppoly. They just look so awesome because of ungodly texturing and bumpmapping skills ;P

well the models we have are from 2004, our homeworld mod. having high poly ships wont make things run any slower, we'll make sure they have LODs etc.

we wouldnt do **** if we couldnt do it wicked :)

symptoms: Dose not save settings.
dose not detect any maps in the game.
reproduce the problem: install vista and then install the mod on the same drive as vista.
How to fix: install on different drive :D
the problem is all the stuff on the drive vista is installed is read-only unless you run as admin, but seems AFF dont like to be runed as admin(got an error)

we have several members running with the mod installed on the same drive as vista, it may be a problem with only your setup. i dont wish to dismiss your problem, go check out our forums for support - but i dont wanna scare vista users with only 1 drive.

Support depends on the filename of what you downloaded. Sounds like a RC1 issue, not RC2.

Yes, the server browser for UT3 will do that. You'll need to hit Join IP and enter the information.
