After long period of waiting, and almost complete roster change of the ACW Team, we bring you

3.5 Open Beta

of American Civil War: Brothers vs. Brothers

(crashy and buggy for now, we know, but we're fixing things every day,
to bring you the full and stable version soon)

Current build of 3.5 Open Beta supports Warpath map based ACW campaign only.
However, users who don't own Warpath can still play the custom battles with all the new units!

Also, remember this is a BETA of 3.5, so several features aren't working yet and the installation is not as smooth as the full 3.6 version will hopefully be.

In the current 3.5 beta, research is disabled, but we're hoping to implement it in 3.6 or 3.7.

Detailed install info and video here:

1) Empire: Total War (preferably with Warpath addon)
2) ACW Brothers vs. Brothers 3.4.1 version (3.4 patched to 3.4.1)
3) husserlTW's Subs Power

1) Install ACW 3.4 and 3.4.1 patch (install instructions for each in the Latest Downloads/file link/ Description info)
2) install husserlTW's Subs Power launcher
3) download the ZoR - Open Beta 3.5
4) unzip the ZoR - Open Beta 3.5
5) run setup.exe and follow installer's instructions
6) Do not forget to select ZoR in the launcher, to run 3.5 Beta

It's really not as scary as it may look. If you're having any trouble, head to our FORUM and we'll help you out there. PLEASE DON'T USE COMMENTS BELOW HERE FOR TECH SUPPORT QUESTIONS (ACW team will not be answering them, other people might)!

We do not have any release date for 3.6 yet. Not even an estimate. Please do not ask about a release date, because we honestly just don't know.

Historic realism. Only ETW the game could see a half of a unit melt away and keep fighting. In reality only a handful of units suffered such casualities and kept fighting and they're legendary now. Most others would run away after 5 or 10% killed. But we also made them recover quicker. While previously they'd run off the battlefield, now they run, then stop and come back.

Similar with cavalry. They will run at about 10-20% casualities. Which in a unit of 60 guys is 10 men. Civil War cavalry was not used for sabre charges. They only did this vs. other cavalry, otherwise they fought dismounted (example Buford at Gettysburg) or did flanking harrassment. The couple charges against line infantry that did occur all ended tragically bloody for the cavalry.

Never forget, ACW mod is not vanilla ETW dressed in Civil War clothes. Units will not behave as 18th century units did, but as mid-19th century US Civil War units did.

Hey there I love this mod. this is probably the best mod I have ever played, but I am a Florida boy and it makes me sad to see that the Florida volunteer infantry suck so much *** compared to the other confederate volunteers. I was just wondering why this was. Im not saying I disagree with the statistics, its just my pride thinking out loud. The south shall rise again!

I never got the feeling Floridans suck. They seem to be doing quite ok in my campaign. But bullets will kill 'em just as well as Virginians or Pennsylvanians if you send them in harm's way.

En version 3.5, les baïonnettes sont activées par défaut. Dans la version suivante, 3.6, pour certains types, les baïonnettes sont disponibles, et pas des baïonnettes pour les autres, comme c'était historiquement.
