Alpha Project is a Battlefield 2 modification which goals are to recreate all features that were left out of the retail game, beside that the mod is about innovation and new ideas that add to the sandbox experience! The gameplay stlyle of the mod is a mixture of arcade and realism.

Hello Battlefield Community!

As you might know we are getting closer to a release every day, so i hope we can still count on your patient and we hope we wont disapoint you in the end.

Our team and everyone involved took alot time and work into the stuff we put into the 0.3 version and we hope to satisfy everyone with this of corse :)

So starting up with the actual topic for this newspost...

OPERATION RECIPROCITY


Our first map on the focus is "Operation Reciprocity", this map is based by a well known novel/movie by Tom Clancey with the name Clear And Present Danger.

So much for the design the map is inspired by a miliatry operation from this movie, however unlike in the original movie, this map isnt located in colombia but in china, same scenario thought.

The usmc team have to take controll of several areas spread over a jungle landscape, while the chinese team have to hold all those areas.
Special Features of this map are different time of day setups for each map layer (64,32,16)

TIAN SHAN MOUNTAIN RANGE


This map is somewhat inspired by the bf3 map "Operation Firestorm" thought, thats the only thing about it, most of the map is completley different in terms of layout and terrain, basicly the only similarity with the aboth mentioned map is the oil refinery located in the center of the map.

Basicly this map is newland, located in the desert gobi, where the weather can be pretty rough at times, beside gravel and sand you will find snow coverd places all around the map, especaly on the mountain peaks.

All in all i would say this map got something for everyone, vehicular gameplay, large viewdistances for sniping aswell close combat areas like the oil refinery. You will also find some new statics in this map like construction bridges and other interesting new ideas making this map one of the more interesting ones in the next release for sure!

Just as a note, thats only the two newest maps that will be featured in our next release, there will be many more new/old maps comming for 0.3, so stay tuned!

Voted! Love all the updates and really looking forward to the next release. A quick question, how did you 'shrink' the aircraft HUDs? I love that the HUD is smaller and I think you guys set the pilot cameras back so you can see more of the cockpits. Nice touch! Did you tweak the vanilla BF2 HUDs or recreate them from scratch? Curious how difficult that was to do? Thanks, keep up the awesome work!

well most of the work was done with a community made HUD editor, without this it would have been realy hard, actualy its edited vanilla HUD nodes that were used for those ;)

Thanks Jones, do you have a link for that HUD editor program? I would like to try it, if its available to the public. I really like that look you came up with for the aircraft HUDs and cockpits and wanted to try that with some of the AIX mod HUDs, Thanks

i would like to thank u all for this great mod it is amazing beyond words and i play bf2 only because of this mod. thanks and we will wait 10 years for this mod just because of the time u spend working on it men good job.but im just wondering about a thing did u guys gave vehicles some love or no and i love AT weapons so please if u got time change effects and animations and sounds for AT weapons at least they are a big aspect of the game and many mods dump them or do shiity job on them and thanks.

Well, vehicles got some improvements as you have seen in our 0.21 release. They have new huds, weapon ammo types, and some vehicles even have hands and arms when you drive it. All of those things I guess can count towards vehicle improvements.

Then we did modify the AT weapons a bit. They now have 3d scopes and some have new sounds. At this stage it is hard to say whether we will modify it further or not, but I can assure you that we did make some nice modifications on it for the next release.

This mod is a perfect little thing - it changes the game so that it is far more playable and enjoyable than vanilla BF2. Proper damage and accuracy in this mod are nicely balanced so that you actually can kill things if you aim and shoot - in vanilla BF2, you're lucky if you can get 2 shots on an enemy with a rifle when prone, sometimes even the first flies off elsewhere; and when it takes 5-6 shots to bring an enemy down, it's horrific. This mod fixes this nicely; not so realistic that everyone…
