Hello Alpha Project Community!

Yes, you were reading right guys, our mod is back in business, including a new fullblown ONLINE SUPPORT featured by 762 Ranking

This is including a new hosting service launched by a external executable which will let you create a completley NEW ACCOUNT specificly for our mod.

With this i want to say many thanks to =DGC=Neo82 who helped us making all this possible, this new system will be running specifly for one 100 PLAYER SERVER located in germany only for now and will also include CUSTOM RANKING which can be browsed -> HERE <-

You can check it out already right now and dont have to wait for the patch to create your account and test it out, just download the following exeutable and follow the instructions!

We cant wait to see you on the battlefield soldiers! Happy fragging!

  • simply copy the executable on your desktop and run it with administrator rights, get sure your firewall doesnt block it, otherwise it wont work!
  • Now select Alpha Project in the drop down menu and press start, it should automaticly find your installation and download the nessesary files into its root directory, after the update is done (there should only be a short popup) just press start again and it should launch the game...
  • When ingame, simply create a new account with the nickname of your choice and jump into the multplayer tab to join the one and only server available in the list!

In case you expereince black flickering artifacts ingame, close down the game again, launch the BF2ModLauncher.exe and press "Fix Shaders" button and start the game again, then everything should be fine!

Download this and put it directly into the battlefield 2 folder, not the mod folder, the main battlefield 2 directory where the bf2.exe is in:
After this, run the modlauncher again and it should work now!

Before you release the new version, i have small suggestion to make concerning gun play. Could you give the guns little to no deviation wile zooming, and give guns higher vertical recoil? Wouldnt take very long to do. It took me only 2 hours to change deviation and recoil for all the 0.21 guns. (For fun of course)

Anyways, toy around with it, if it doesnt work, then change it back.

I think weapon accuracy is fine. In fact I can't really think of any improvements.
I would recommend a different change. MG fire from a tank/APC/IFV is ineffective at 200m already. It takes several seconds at aimed fire towards a target at that distance to kill it. Killing the driver of a vehicle without destroying the vehicle requires lots of luck. In real life MGs are usually effective to some 700m at least. I would suggest making MG fire from vehicles effective to some 200-300m, that would make destroying armor important for infantry advancement, however you could still defeat it without armor of your own.
Also, I would suggest increasing maximum view distances of both vehicles and humans.
However, since they're already at a "second internal testing phase", I'm pretty sure it's no longer balancing in which case such suggestions will very likely be ignored, and rightfully so. These are minor adjustments (though the view distance, in my opinion, is important, but considering the devs haven't changed that (or already have for 0.31, who knows), that's likely not important for them).
And since, I'm sure, they're not too excited about the idea of releasing a 0.32 or 0.4, we're probably never going to see those changes in the official release.
Best we can hope for is that they try creating their own game where they are not limited by the BF2 engine (I've forgotten the name...) and they can do a lot of things they skipped here.

If you've already sorted the weapons how you want them on your game why would you want to impose it on everyone else?

i was using me messing with the weapons as an example of it not taking that long to do so. Of course i cant take a modded Content folder and play multiplayer. What im saying is that instead of have spread, just add more recoil.

I think it's unlikely that the modders will change recoil just for you.I'm pretty sure that at this stage they've got other concerns.

Do you know what a "Suggestion" is? Im not selfishly telling them to implement this feature. Im simply giving a suggestion, and they can do what they want with it.

And I'm simply telling you that at this stage it is highly unlikely that your suggestion will be implemented.
If you follow JONES's posts you'll see that the devs are at their second internal testing phase, and are ironing out the final bugs before release.

Drummershocked Jun 17 2015, 2:26pm replied:

They don't have to implement it right away, the suggestion can stay floating in the air until the devs want to do something with it. Just because someone suggests something doesn't mean there is a time limit at which it "Disappears" if nothing is done with it.

I'm with drummershoked, i think that if they increase the weapon recoil and decrease the deviation the game would even better. :)

Stay tuned for 0.31 guys, it wont be all to long anymore, our second internal testing phase started and when every possible problem that will occur within this test are fixed and vanished, then we consider releaseing it, not earlyer!

You can imagine that i myself dont want to go throught the hassle again which we had with the 0.3 beta release some time ago, with tons of problems and a endless list of bugs and crashes!

This is what i want to avoid at any cost but at the same time this takes its time...

Check the mods style on the right side of the page, it says single & multiplayer so yes, all our maps have unlimited sp support, however we suggest you to play offline coop where you can set your botcount and mapcyle in the multiplayer tab, this is way better and more stable the the singleplayer tab, also it can be that the sp tab doesnt list all the available bot supported maps and layers!

Ok thanks. I'll download this now. However, I have a question, if I put a weapon from a weapons pack to your mod, will it work with a simple drag and drop? Or do I have to do some editing to make it work? Not that the guns in your mod are awful but because I have a favorite gun I want to use in your mod.

+1 vote     reply to comment
xrayfishx Jun 14 2015, 6:09pm replied:

It will not work. Alpha Project uses a cool kit creation system and the weapons pack will either overwrite it or, if I'm right about how I think the system works, will not be used at all. The chance that it works is, in my opinion, zero. I've done some bf2 modding and I know a bit about how the things work there and I just don't see how it could work. Best you can hope for is that this favourite weapon of yours is in the game or will come soon with the next update.

Welp, that's kinda sad. Still gonna download it anyway. I'll just hope they include it in the later versions.

This mod is a perfect little thing - it changes the game so that it is far more playable and enjoyable than vanilla BF2. Proper damage and accuracy in this mod are nicely balanced so that you actually can kill things if you aim and shoot - in vanilla BF2, you're lucky if you can get 2 shots on an enemy with a rifle when prone, sometimes even the first flies off elsewhere; and when it takes 5-6 shots to bring an enemy down, it's horrific. This mod fixes this nicely; not so realistic that everyone…
