Alpha Project is a Battlefield 2 modification which goals are to recreate all features that were left out of the retail game, beside that the mod is about innovation and new ideas that add to the sandbox experience! The gameplay stlyle of the mod is a mixture of arcade and realism.

Hello community!

Its been some time since the last Alpha Project news post and i decided to give you a little bit of a overview of what you will see in the comming 0.3 version of our mod.

For 0.3 you can imagine to get alot of new content, including the new chinese PLA faction with its wide variaty of new weapons aswell maps set in the far and middle eastern theatre.

Different time of day and weather will be another focus which we are looking for our maps to become more interesting, however this feature will be layer-specific, this means it depends on what map size you are playing (16,32,64)

Beside this we will have a ton of new weapons and customization possibilities, you will be able to set different ammuinion typs for shotguns and grenadelaunchers for example, to suit your liking and situation.

Of corse there will be also a bunch of new animations for almost any weapons, right now i would even say we replaced all vanilla bf2 weapon animation sets with custom ones already, this was not always easy since we needed alot of contributors and permissions from various people of the bf modding scene in order to archieve this, as our team is not realy big at the moment.

This week i prepared a video for you showing some gameplay of the current ap 0.3 build on a old known map thought showing some new animations, sounds and textures you might have not seen yet, the video will be linked at the end of this newspost.

With that said i want to thank everyone involved in helping getting the next version of the mod done, especialy i want to thank our newest members TheObscure and Ironclad2014 for joining us and helping me where i need it! Thanks alot guys!

In the end i uploaded some brand new screenshots for you aswell the already aboth mentioned gameplay video, i hope you stay loayl to us and stay tuned for our next release! :)

hmm might be a problem as the textures for those crosshairs are pretty big, 1024 or 2048x2 which will be cropped down alot by such a low resolution, try setting textures to high, thought i cant gurantee this will help anything realy, the mod wasnt build with such low resolutions in mind

The only way the Hk416 will make its appearance is by making an EU team and as far as I know, JONES said that he won't go so far as adding new content goes. Also, the SCARH is already in the game which is more or less a clone; and as the customization system is now, we don't have space to add more weapons, especially for the USMC team. As for the rest of the weapons you mentioned, I can't speak for those.

Thanks for the heads up. I assume you'll be replacing the G36 with the SCAR-H for the USMC Spec Ops? Hopefully you guys do. :)

No not at all. The SCARH will be the alternative choice for both the assault and medic class. We like the G36C too much to replace it! ;)

Hmm, wouldn't it be better to have the SCAR-H in the Spec Ops class? I mean it is called the Special operations forces Combat Assault Rifle for a reason.

We can only have 3 weapons per class so that leaves us a hard choice as to what to add in those spaces. Of course we will keep the M4 and the G36c, so it came down to a hard choice for the last slot. So we picked the Honey Badger since it is a SpecOps gun in real life too and it has a built-in silencer. The SCARH wasn't a good option since it is a battle rifle and not an ordinary rifle.

Overall in Alpha Project, we prioritize balancing higher than realism, so please don't be surprised if you see a PLA soldier with a British rifle in the next release. ;)

This mod is a perfect little thing - it changes the game so that it is far more playable and enjoyable than vanilla BF2. Proper damage and accuracy in this mod are nicely balanced so that you actually can kill things if you aim and shoot - in vanilla BF2, you're lucky if you can get 2 shots on an enemy with a rifle when prone, sometimes even the first flies off elsewhere; and when it takes 5-6 shots to bring an enemy down, it's horrific. This mod fixes this nicely; not so realistic that everyone…
