Survival Mod for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

It's goal is to make game more Survival and less COD like. It tweak weapon parameters to be accurate to the Movies universe, and do make real damage to an Aliens. Aliens will become real threat, no more fistfighting with the most deadly killing machine in the universe, if they get close you - you are almost for sure are a deadman. NPC marines and mercs are now deal some more damage to aliens too, they will now have steel BB instead of rubber bullets.))

This mode project is containing two different mods:
1.Survival Mod, it makes aliens deadlier and player more vulnerable, and also makes players and friendly NPC weapons more powerful.

2."No more mercs" mod, it replaces mercs in BugHunt mode with aliens.

I have nothing but respect for someone willing to do the dirty work of salvaging the Colonial Marines trainwreck, and it looks like you've done a great job.

I gotta ask the community though, say I could get this game for approx. $10, would this mod make it worth my time? does it at least bring the experience close to what we should've gotten in vanilla? Please share any feedback you have.

It's hard to say. Personally I think you gotta love Aliens universe to stomach some of the issues the game has. And it has a lot of it. This mod addresses only some of the glaring ones that are related to the gameplay and that is that the aliens do not pose a threat in vanilla.

This mod changes it and makes you more vulnerable. Also your weapons are more deadly so the final result is what you would expect after having watched the movie where the aliens could be taken down with a single burst of pulse rifle but also could take you down in a blink of an eye.

Make no mistake though, all other issues are still here so you really need to be dedicated to this universe to be able to appreciate it for what it is - until a better alien game comes out. :)

But if it's not the "alien fix" that you are looking for and it's only to play a shooter game then I would say stay away from this title.

Now you sound like you're making some valid points if this mod was out in its current state the week the game launched. However we're long past that, we've got 4 DLC's not to mention a slew of official patches, one of which last july that was a massive 3.5GB or something. With the utmost respect, did you consider how much has improved post-launch before you make your point? In short, For the miniscule amount the game now costs, and with the DLC's, patches, and this mod, do we have something akin to a solid experience?

I'm one of those unfortunate customers who pre-ordered this game so I've seen it on day 1, day 2, day 3 etc.

What was improved by the giant patch was some alien movement and graphics. Maybe something more that I don't know of, but it doesn't matter to me as I personally haven't noticed improvements aside from some pathfinding and improved visuals.

Alas nothing could be done for the overall bad design, rushed production and terrible writing.

Any feedback? Is everything alright? No need to rebalance anything? BugHunt mod to remove mercs and put aliens to their place will be done around end of next weekend.

Ok, I finished the game and I can give my complete feedback.

Balance wise it should be tweaked slightly, I think. I played on ultimate badass difficulty and if you remember from where the aliens come and if you are a bit careful you can take them out very very easily.

The game also is very generous with medikits and ammo so it's giving you a hand every time you need it. Unless you're able to drastically reduce the drops of armor and ammo then I think the only thing to tweak is xenos health, they should take a little more punishment. But that's my two cents.

I'll try bughunt in the meantime.

Sorry mate, I was busy playing.

It works perfectly with Stasis Interrupted, by the way. I like the balance and the fact that those annoying grunts go down fast. They can also take you out fast as well if you're not careful.

Till now, balance wise, it seems ok, but I still have to finish. It's definetely an improvement over the original.

The only bad thing is that, since the aliens are more deadly, you rapidly get much better at fragging them from the distance. This means that after a single playthrough they become really to slow :) So now I understand why you wanted to speed them up :)
