What if vampires had empires? This is the idea that started it all. Since then I have been mixing modern Horror Cliché with traditional Slavic mythology and hints towards the dark chapters of Romanian history. The result is something like an Eastern European Age of Mythology. With a bit of black humour...

Warning: (This I should have done earlier) the depiction of violence in Age of Vampires borders on cynical and exceeds that in the original game. If you feel offended by the depiction of humiliated human beings, even only in a game, do not download. I do not favor any kind of violence in real life, the brutality depicted here is however an accurate match of the traditional vampire-mythology.

-new unit:

A ranged, axe-throwing vampiric knight replaces the cavalry

archer for the Bathory Clan. Slightly stronger than a regular mounted

archer and causing damage in a radius, but unfortunately, due to some

incomprehensive bug does not damage buildings.

-new building:

The Transsylvanian peasants have an own unique wonder

now. A hide-out/fortress that was originally intended to shelter

people and shoot arrows, unfortunately that didn't work, because this

piece of data-edit crashes the game, but still nice to look at.

-new graphics:

The forest-spirit, Leshy, which torments your villagers

comes with a new look, distinguishable from the Viking Berserk. The

Witchhunter is less stiff when standing (the torch-flame moves a bit)

and in regicide the Vrkolak have a new appearance for their king (and

a different name).

-new data edits:

To keep up with the other strongly over-powered

fractions, the Transsylvanians and Vrkolak have received some new extra

bonus. The Transsylvanians can shelter villagers in churches, which

then shoot arrows and their spearmen cost 50% less. The Vrkolak pay

50% less for villagers and their female nature spirits (Samodiva) have

+1 range, as to compensate for the otherwise poor quality of ranged

units. Overall female spirits now have an attack-bonus against siege

weapons and those of the Dracul Clan (Iele) have the strongest attack.

Whatever the case the mod definitely needs sword wielding vampires. Their immense strength would be useful as elite guards for the noble vampires. This is a war after all.

Im quite good at other functions of a computer but Id totally suck at modifying aoe files,good luck on age of vampires 2 though,I adore celtic mythology just as much as Slavic myth,I cant wait to see what beautiful horrors will be in there.

I have an idea for you,Ivac If you ever intend to make another update or make an age of vampires 2 make atleast one more vampire and one more werewolf civ,heres a short explanation of what I could think of

Orlok Clan: special unit:Nocturnal Warrior (a nosferatu with a demonic sword,upgrade would be called a lord of Graves and with 4+ attack and 100+ hp) Special Technology:Black Magick (empowers witches and increases their hp along with their speed,also allows for ghosts to be trained at a grave and all supernatural units will gain in power)

Lycans:Special unit:Possesed Werewolf (a man who turns into a powerful black wolf with red eyes,upgrade would be called a Wolf of Satan,adding 5+atk and 60+ hp) Special technology:Virgin souls (Gives wolves more armor and faster training rate)

And if you want to make it balanced heres a new Anti-vampire faction

Harker Guild: Special unit:Inqusitor (Throwing axe man based unit with a Hammer and strong armor) Special technology:Runes (gives all melee units higher atk)

These are very beautiful ideas... but I have to think about this more thoroughly. Right now the concept of the mod is to build upon mythology and history, whereas the fractions you propose are purely fictional. Still that could be a nice idea for a 'spin-off'. Some separate, but related project... we could work on together or you will at least be credited for the idea ;)

I wanted to make an Alucard character to play around with. Basically every time he kills a unit he can either resurrect it as a ghoul, or gain +1/2 hp and an extra life if killed.

Sure a nice idea overall (although I tend to only include historical/mythological creatures in my project) the question is if the Age of Empires engine would support the data-editing that would be required to set your idea in action...

Depends on how much effort this will cost, I am very employed these days, but I am also playing around in my head with one more update anyway... so we'll see. The option is not excluded :)
