Welcome to the Age of Empires III Improvement Patch! This mod is an unlimited-population + better units mod. It lets you have unlimited outposts, town centers, ships, and settlers. Outposts cost A LOT less, and there are some over powered units. Pike-men are now useful, with a great 30 melee damage. An army of 50 of them will wipe out an enemy town without losing more then 10 men. This mod will work for Age of Empires III and both expansion packs. Frigates can hold as many troops as you want. Monitors long range attack will destroy anything in its path. This mod also includes: Custom names for ALL British and French ships 40 Cards in your Shipment deck Unlimited shipments with any card Unlimited Forts Unlimited Factories 15 fishing boats per whale 20 settlers per plantation and mill

It is 2 weeks from the Improvement Patch's 2nd birthday. I wanted to push the long awaited version 4 on March 8th, but I have fallen behind schedule. I will have an update on what I expect to have out this year on March 8th. I thank each and every one of you who have contributed to this mod. Whether it was suggestions, bug reports, script help, or even visiting this page.

Hmmm, ill try to redownload and play when I can.

Right now my computer is on the fritz and wont let me playing anything but games from like Armor Games. I think the RAM is going bad or something.

The art, animation files and stuff thats new that just goes right in the data folder with everything else right?

Ive got a new computer but right now Windows and AOE are having a disagreement so it might not be until this weekend I actually try to get this and them working. Will let you know if I get it working or not.

Sounds good! I just thought of something, I dont know if all the Euro nations have skirmishers (If not then opps), and I was thinking that maybe they could upgrade into the Colonial Militia or make it a researchable thing at the market and give them their own upgrades?

I did a little research and some things are better than the other so with the market idea (Or a similure research type thing?) players have the choice of which they want. Let me know what you think of this. Since they are nearly similure is somewhat why I thought of the upgrade to them.

And on another note what are the "Sakers"? Are they from the TAD campain?

Can't wait to see more of this mod =D

Sakers are Heavy Horse Cannons (I am considering changing the name to Heavy Horse Cannons)

I have tried working on the colonial militia for TAD so you can get them without revolting. So far that doesn't work (you can now make them from barracks when you revolt)

I forgot to say this, but make sure the first thing you build is a market. It gives 30,000 xp when you make one. The only problem right now is it takes a good hour to an hour and a half to make one. I am trying to fix that before I release the new update.

One thing: the new update will not be for TAD, but for the original age of empires III (for now)

TAD will allow you to build gatling guns without revolting (for Euro empires and the Iroquois)

Search for the age of empires 3 file, it could be located in the steam main folder (I am not familiar with modding steam games)

Find your steam folder, then go to steamapps, your account name, and then the game. Tell me what folders are there. If there is a data folder, then just drop the mod content into that folder.

Oh, never mind I just tried it with the British and it works. And I checked your website. Can't wait for the update then. Good luck on the mod =) its a great mod! The only suggestion that I have is maybe to lower the Priests health some other than that I find the mod to be perfect. Good luck on further work, and btw I love your name lol.

I dont mean to trouble you but I was halfway right when I said I got it working, the only thing working really is the unlimited shipment cards, but not the unlimited population. Ive modded steam games before but the file layout is a little different that say Skyrim, so again if you can help I would greatly appreciate it.

After going to steamapps, common then AOEIII it contains a bin file which contains the data folder which as of right now where I put the files to your mod. Theres also a "msxml" folder, and a directx folder. Thank you ahead of time.

did you move and replace the proto.xml file?

(Dont forget to make a backup before you do that)


Also: If you are trying to do this online, it wont work. It only works on LAN (if all computers have the mod installed) and single player

Yes I did, and made a backup. And I dont play games like this online because im a MAJOR turtle lol. Should I try replacing again? Oh this might help there are two proto files theres a proto.xml.XMB and the one that your mod replaces. Let me know if you think of something, and thank you very much for your help.

proto.xml.XMB doesn't get effected by this mod,

One more thing you can try if nothing else works is:

Open the mod's proto.xml
Open the original proto.xml

Copy all files from the mod's proto.xml
Highlight everything in the original proto.xml

Paste the mod's proto.xml text into the original so it replaces everything.

Thats the best I can think of right now. I hope it works

Can you take a screen shot of the loading page and the home page of your aoe3 game? I want to make sure its the aoe3 game and not the expansion pack. Protox is War Chiefs, and Protoy is the Asian Destinies.

I am just really glad someone wants to play my mod so much they decide to ask me. When ever I have trouble with a mod I just delete it and move on to the next one. Thank you so much for looking at this mod, and I really hope the best comes out of all this trouble

OHHH!!!!!!!!! Ok im so sorry that why it wouldnt work completely. *Facepalm* Im so sorry. I just loaded it up not using TAD and it works. Gosh I feel so dumb. Ok now I really cant wait for the update and stuff lol. I really like this mod because I can have the huge armys and stuff without having to worry about a pop cap. that and the unlimited shipments are more realistic too. The only thing is balance really this mod has gotten me to love mortars lol.

Ive got it working now, seeing what you said got me thinking "What if I try just the regular version?" and sure enough it worked. Sorry for this useless hassle but hey taught me something.

And as for the Protos thats what I thought but I wasnt for sure so I just asked. Id ask to help on this but I honestly have no idea how to do anything mod wise. The only game ive ever modded myself was Red Alert 2. Thank you so much and sorry for kinda wasting time trying to figure this out when it was just the version I was using. Good luck on further patches I would love to see this mod completely finished.

I will be doing 2 versions for TAD

First one is the over-powered units, and the second will be just unlimited population and minor changes.


This mod moves more towards the french, because that is the empire I use. It will be balanced in the future updates.

I thank you a lot for choosing this mod. If you have any troubles, or any ideas for future updates, go ahead and tell me ;)

How do you mean its being moved more towards the French?

A idea that I have is maybe making the fort walls buildable or something. Or make a shipment that allows them to be built.

What I meant by this mod moves more towards the french is the french will be the most powerful because of how the french settlers have been edited, and their shipments send 50 units. No other empire has that just yet

Alright sounds like a plan. I just thought of this since your doing TAD (Which im guessing is gonna include The Warcheifs) maybe adding the pailside walls seen in The Warchiefs cutscene buildable, because I think that the Native Nations should have some form of protection other than just the War Huts.
