Age of Darkness is a mod set in the historical period spanning the two world wars of the 20th century, revolving around the struggle between the forces of liberty, socialism and reaction.
The main tank arm of Argentina in Age of Darkness: clockwise from bottom: DL43; M4(A1); ARL44
EXPLANATION
Brazil and Argentina were two regional powers in their own right during the period covered by Age of Darkness, so they are featured in the mod, alongside other factions such as America and Germany (who assiduously tried to court them on both world wars).
This small diorama just depicts a small fraction of Argentina's armoured corps, and consists of the DL43, Argentina's first indigenous IFV. This is further supplemented by American-produced Shermans (which theoretically could be available if Argentina played a greater role) as well as the French-built ARL44 (which was rumoured to have been smuggled in from France after the war, but never proven).
The ARL I admit is a very controversial choice, but I felt that Argentina needs some serious balancing. Units aside, Argentina also has several unique infantry as well as an early-era cruiser-type unit.
Because Argentina was prominent especially in culture, and it also had ties with more technologically advanced Germany, Argentina has a bonus when it comes to knowledge production. This should help Argentina tech up faster than other factions, although to be honest, teching up in Age of Darkness also requires substantial amounts of oil which only Britain and Russia can produce in effluvial quantities.
NOT INCLUDED: Crossley "Indian" armoured car.
Great!!! And you are right, Germany was a big influence in the argentinian army back in the day. The choice of ARL is fine to me if you want to keep balance in game.
The 2 versions of Nahuel Dl.43, do they have diferents characteristics?
Thanks for remember me :,)
There are no special distinctions - they are all merely 2 skins for the same unit, although the one with a noseplate-mounted machine gun can be expected to fire into enemies when engaging them. I expect the Sherman to function as a cheaper alternative to the Nahuel, to reflect how Argentina let go of the Nahuel in order to take advantage of the more numerous M4 tanks at the end of WW2.
Argentina is basically all about "teching up before your opponent can get better tanks in" and best aligned to the Allies, so it can obtain the Sherman and Bren Carrier, although it can obtain some powerful units like the FW190 as well as an enhanced Dreadnought unit for early naval assaults.
