Concentrating on the late medieval period, Age of Chivalry: Hegemony replaces or significantly alters each of the civilizations in the original game, while also adding a number of new ones, allowing the player to control Central and Western European states. Many new units and technologies have been added and gameplay dynamics have been changed considerably in this complete overhaul of Age of Empires II.

Play as Austria, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Brittany, Burgundy, Denmark, England, Flanders, Florence, France, Friesland, Genoa, Guelders, Helvetia, Hungary, Liège, Milan, Naples, the Papal States, Poland, Savoy, Saxony, Scotland, Venice, or Wales. Fight against your friends or the AI through random maps or on newly crafted real world maps of Central Europe, Western Europe, Northern Italy or the Low Countries, or play through the unique historical eight-scenario campaign. Explore a whole new medieval period in Age of Chivalry: Hegemony!

The three new countries made available in the new beta, the Papal States, Naples and Hungary, will add to the large number of European countries that were already playable in Age of Chivalry: Hegemony.

They not only come with their own technologies, units and policy decisions, but even have unique features. Gain florins for every building you destroy as Hungary, invest in Jubilee Years as the Papal States to gain florins, or quickly train up an army of knights straight from your stables as Naples. Each also has a wide array of policy decisions to choose from, to shape your country while you play.

Other countries have also seen changes. Not only are there new technologies and units, but new graphics have been sprinkled throughout, both for units and buildings, and some castles now even have original, progressing construction graphics.

A new version of the AI is included not only supporting the new countries, but also reconfiguring the original ones. The AI now uses more varied troop combinations and strategies and utilises new technologies.

The Lateran Palace

Furthermore, the Age of Chivalry campaign has been updated. The scenarios have been combed through for bugs and rebalanced where necessary, and an additional scenario has been added, created especially by Julius999, depicting the 1379 Chioggia War between Venice and Genoa!

Medieval Florence

N.B. This is still a beta version. Not all intended graphics have been completed: some of the new countries don't have original graphics for their monument or history files yet (to be fixed in an upcoming update), and future versions will also add more new unit and building graphics!

To get access to the Berroviere as Genoa you need to research the Guelfi policy decision at the Town Hall.

okay i found out how to solve the problem, im testing it, NICE textures, i found a bug or problem, at least in french civilization when you build houses even if you are in the last century, sometimes houses looks like first century ones, idk if its on purpose or why, now something that i would like to change, at least as how i would like it, is the french monastery make it look like the town center, or university(i love this one)

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks! Did you play the game as a free for all? Apparently doing so causes this error message to pop up. It'll be fixed with the next patch, which I hope to release in a few days! Until then, you should be able to avoid it by putting the AI players in pre-determined teams.

Hi, a lot of factions already have unique building graphics. The example you mention is one - Liège already has unique graphics for its Episcopal Court, and every country that can build a Guild Hall has unique graphics for it (Bavaria, Flanders, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Saxony). It's also true for a lot of other buildings - Papal Court for the Papal States, Princely Courts for Milan, Naples, Venice, Teutonic Order Commandry and Castle for Brandenburg, the Frisian Castle, etc.

When it comes to new building graphics I have two concerns:
- Improve or extend the existing building sets. Not all new building graphics I made are of similar quality and not all building sets are fully complete. I want to extend the existing sets to cover more buildings and be of the highest quality I can make. The plan here is to give each building set two groups of graphics: early (12th/13th century) and late (14th/15th century) with a few exceptions (like Town Halls, which change each century, or Markets, which also have unique graphics for 13th-15th centuries). Building sets are supposed to be shared between multiple countries where appropriate.

- I will keep adding some country-specific graphics as well, but this is of a secondary concern. Thus far I created unique graphics for buildings only where it made a lot of sense to do so, i.e. because there was a very famous local building or the local architecture for a specific building was quite distinct. I will keep doing so but obviously I only have limited time (I make all the buildings on my own) so this is a balancing act.

Sorry, that was quite long!

tl;dr:
I'll add them where possible but my main imperative is to improve the existing building sets.

You can copy custom random map scripts into a special random map folder: Age of Empires II\Games\Age of Chivalry\Script.RM
