Concentrating on the late medieval period, Age of Chivalry: Hegemony replaces or significantly alters each of the civilizations in the original game, while also adding a number of new ones, allowing the player to control Central and Western European states. Many new units and technologies have been added and gameplay dynamics have been changed considerably in this complete overhaul of Age of Empires II.

Play as Austria, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Brittany, Burgundy, Denmark, England, Flanders, Florence, France, Friesland, Genoa, Guelders, Helvetia, Liège, Milan, Poland, Savoy, Saxony, Scotland, Venice, or Wales. Fight against your friends or the AI through random maps or on newly crafted real world maps of Central Europe, Western Europe, Northern Italy or the Low Countries, or play through the unique historical eight-scenario campaign. Explore a whole new medieval period in Age of Chivalry: Hegemony!

After a considerable time in production, the long ago promised new version of Age of Chivalry: Hegemony has finally arrived! It adds five new countries - Florence, Milan, Venice, Liège, and Brandenburg - each with unique features and distinctive character.

Teutonic Order fortress

Command Italian Condottieri and Liègeois Haidroits, Brandenburger Junkers or Venetian Stradiots. Construct magnificent monuments, such as the church of St Mark of Venice, the Duomo of Florence or the St Lambert cathedral of Liège.

Florentine Guild Hall

Take a stand when advancing your country through the centuries: as Milan, will you favour the Lombard League or the rise of the Visconti Signoria? As Venice, will you look to the sea or the land? As Liège, will you side with the rebellious citizenry or the ruling bishops? Or read about each country in the history section.

The eighteen original countries have not been neglected, either. Many units have new graphics and many more building graphics have been added while some old graphics have been improved. Some countries have been rebalanced after much testing and a new AI is now included which poses much more of a challenge than the old AI ever did. Furthermore, many new objects have been included for scenario designers to use.

When you start playing the game - load a random map, scenario, saved game, etc - it should switch to full screen.

Great to see you are in development. This is the best mod for Age of Empires II, best than Forgotten Empires. I play your mod since v1.6?... Recomended to all my friends. ;) Thanks to Kor & Andrew & all people help you. :)

Thanks for your compliments! I'll take a look at the Conquerors campaign. However, Age of Chivalry doesn't really support the original AoK:TC campaigns so I can't guarantee this will be fixed.

New knights really real, but it's fight, so ****...!!! not brutal, bloody, power... My strategie, New Kinghts Just for defense, support attact... Old style Kinght used to show off the beauty & Army power. Arrow, Infantry... and the other thing are Pretty... Longbow men look cool... Infantry, i like the old Man At man upgrade to Champoin... I like the old v1.72 release more than this v1.94... "Kinght KINGHT Kinght KINGHT"........ Please !!!

Are you planning to add some Scandinavian kingdoms like Norway or Sweden? Or perhaps even some eastern kingdoms like Hungary or Lithuania :)

It's a hell of a lot of work and takes a lot of time, which I have less and less of. Also, the mod's more or less complete now and is being polished. Adding new countries puts back progress a lot, because when you add one new civ you essentially need to make sure the balance is correct for all of them. Finally, when you add a new country it needs to have some unique characteristics, which are harder to create the more countries you already have.

I also think there's a pretty nice selection of countries in terms of historical variety and gameplay styles as it is.

Yes, it's a lot of work and the mod steps back but the selection of the contries is not historical accuracy. Were is Spain? Is a **** today but, in medieval ages, are one of the great powers.

Please forgive my english.

Countries weren't selected based on their importance. However it would be historically inaccurate to include Spain because it wasn't formed until the union of Castile and Aragon, and Charles V functioned as the first real king of a united Spain, which is after the period of Age of Chivalry. To adequately cover the Iberian peninsula for the preceding period would require the inclusion of Castile, Aragon, Navarre and Portugal, which would take far too much work. For a lot of the 14th/15th centuries these kingdoms were also busy fighting each other (or caught up in civil war) and so with a few exceptions aside their interaction with the other countries in Age of Chivalry was quite limited.
