Concentrating on the late medieval period, Age of Chivalry: Hegemony replaces or significantly alters each of the civilizations in the original game, while also adding a number of new ones, allowing the player to control Central and Western European states. Many new units and technologies have been added and gameplay dynamics have been changed considerably in this complete overhaul of Age of Empires II.

Play as Austria, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Brittany, Burgundy, Denmark, England, Flanders, Florence, France, Friesland, Genoa, Guelders, Helvetia, Hungary, Li├Ęge, Milan, Naples, the Papal States, Poland, Savoy, Saxony, Scotland, Venice, or Wales. Fight against your friends or the AI through random maps or on newly crafted real world maps of Central Europe, Western Europe, Northern Italy or the Low Countries, or play through the unique historical eight-scenario campaign. The three new countries made available in the new beta, the Papal States, Naples and Hungary, will add to the large number of European countries that were already playable in Age of Chivalry: Hegemony.

They not only come with their own technologies, units and policy decisions, but even have unique features. Gain florins for every building you destroy as Hungary, invest in Jubilee Years as the Papal States to gain florins, or quickly train up an army of knights straight from your stables as Naples. Each also has a wide array of policy decisions to choose from, to shape your country while you play.

Other countries have also seen changes. Not only are there new technologies and units, but new graphics have been sprinkled throughout, both for units and buildings, and some castles now even have original, progressing construction graphics.

A new version of the AI is included not only supporting the new countries, but also reconfiguring the original ones. The AI now uses more varied troop combinations and strategies and utilises new technologies.

Furthermore, the Age of Chivalry campaign has been updated. The scenarios have been combed through for bugs and rebalanced where necessary, and an additional scenario has been added, created especially by Julius999, depicting the 1379 Chioggia War between Venice and Genoa!

N.B. This is still a beta version. Not all intended graphics have been completed: some of the new countries don't have original graphics for their monument or history files yet (to be fixed in an upcoming update), and future versions will also add more new unit and building graphics!

Awesome! really, u did very hard work .well i m old AOE user always playing this game but i m thinking that there should update of wallz like stronghold cruadar in which archers can cliam on wall nd fire.when a archer unit get inside the tower a flag is seem to be apeared but i want that there should be the archer unit on the top of the tower like stronghold crusadar.If u do these updates the game will have more fun ever :)

they should make the walls able to garisson one unit, and then there should be an archer added on the wall, and he will be firing at the enemies, that's what you mean? stronghold crusaders was so badass game

A bit of an off-topic question but since you kept the Scorpion in the mod, what are the historical inspirations/examples for this kind of weapon. I've never seen a Scorpion-esque weapon in any of my books or the museums I've been to (as compared to the Onagers, Trebuchets and Rams which we have many depictions of).

I know right it was invented by Greece and later Roman Legions adopted it, and in the game it looks very unrealistic, no sure why they even put it in the game.ps im not really historical i might be wrong..

The scorpion is also known as the ballista. There are images of it in medieval manuscripts and it was definitely used in this period. There were a few different versions of it, including one on wheels like the unit in the game.

I also believe some variants, wich actually did carry on the Scorpion name, shot several smaller projectiles at once, creating a barrage of sorts, since they would fall a bit apart from eachother. Mangonels also dont show up in the game, but were catapults, so they are represented by onagers.

The AI is still in the works (and not by me), so I don't know how capable the AI is of responding to chat commands.
