Concentrating on the late medieval period, Age of Chivalry: Hegemony replaces or significantly alters each of the civilizations in the original game, while adding a number of new ones, allowing the player to control Central and Western European states. Many new units and technologies have been added and gameplay dynamics have been changed considerably in this complete overhaul of Age of Empires II.

Beautiful as always. I hope you will continue on giving all countries their very own sort of architectural aspect. This is really a major highlight of this mod ;p

I got a question tho : would it be technically possible (engine-wise) to allow the peasants to "terraform", like building road/pavement like in this pic ?
Maybe it could work like farms but without collision... ?

Thanks! I'm not planning on giving every country its own building set (some will get to share), but I certainly intend to add more detailed sets like these over time. :)

As to adding buildable roads, I think it's possible on an aesthetic level, in the same way that a newly built building will have 'dirt 2' terrain under it (buildings like bridges, on the other hand, which affect whether or not units can cross over a terrain, are out of the question in a running game). But such roads would do nothing, and as such would be rather pointless to construct.

It's not pointless, it looks awesome !

Ok I get the fact that it does nothing gameplay-wise, but I'm the kind of guy that plays against the AI, so I can spend quite some time at building a nice city ^^

If only it was possible to do so that buildings grants area of effect bonuses... those roads could increase the speed of units that walk on them !

Very nice architectural style, I like how individual realms receive their own styles, like in Cossacks!

By the way, these structures have a French feeling (or so I think, they remind me of a village of the Languedoc region), have you considered adding them for France too? Also, may I suggest adding the vanilla east european style for the Swiss too (as with Bavaria and Savoy)?

Thanks! The buildings are based on Walloon architecture. I may use some of the Liège graphics for the French set, but I still intend to rework the French/Burgundian set on its own, using architecture from those regions as an example. Brittany will probably get a combination of French and Celtic (Welsh/Scottish) architecture, while Burgundy may get a few Flemish touches.

The Holy Roman Empire was not a singular entity but a collection of many different states, and it's represented through these. If you want to play as the Holy Roman Emperor, you can play as Austria, Bavaria, or Bohemia, all of which provided emperors in the 14th/15th centuries, and for each of them you can pick a unique option to become emperor (or not).

You can also play as a lot of other, smaller states within the empire, both secular states such as Saxony, Brandenburg, or Friesland, or ecclesiastical states such as the prince-bishopric of Liège. And then there's the Italian states (including the Papal States) as well. So yes, the HRE is very much playable. :)

Description

An upcoming patch will give Liège a mostly unique architecture set, which will give them a far more distinctive appearance. Here you can see most of their new buildings on display.
