Your name is David Leatherhoff, and you're addicted to a new painkiller from a company unknown. They keep coming, and you can't stop taking them. Lately you have started to experience illusions, dreams picking at your deepest and darkest fears. Finally, you go to the Hospital, seeking help. First, however, you make a stop into the bathroom, where another bottle of pills awaits you, standing out like a beacon in the night in your depraved eyes. When will it all stop? Afraid of Monsters is a survival horror mod for Half Life 1. What's new in AoM DC? - New monsters (no Half-Life reskin) and weapons - Flashlight can only work with batteries that you pick up - Improved maps and totally new maps - 4 different endings and ways to beat the mod - Random monster spawns - New hud, sprites, textures, sounds, models and animations - Easy mode is easy, normal is normal, hard is hard
Grab four Duracell batteries, a flashlight and kitchen knife. It's time to review Afraid of Montsters: DC.

Review
Opening notes: It seems like I like to get scared... No seriously, I absolutely do. So when I starting playing mods (Which was what? A month ago?) AoM: DC was the first ever modification I got.
----------
Storyline - 10/10
A bet of a original storyline here: You play as David Leatherhoff (No! Not Hasslhoff!) a drug addict that has just been turned on to this new painkiller from some company or other (I can't really read the label...), and ends up having nightmares... No not those nightmare where you are in an episode of Strawberry Shortcake, nightmares that unlocks his deepest and darkest fears. Frantically looking for help, he finally heads for the hospital to get help with his addiction, and ends up getting into a nightmare that he can't get out of. Solid storyline for a game. Hell, even a movie.
Gameplay - 9/10
Game is very intense being as there are random monster spawns, when you first play this game you'll end up getting killed in the first 10 minutes of the game, or at least I did. Gameplay is slow but expected since this a horror game. There are some moments in gameplay that are fast paced but there aren't that many.
Also, to make it more realistic, When you start off you don't with a flashlight, and when you get flashlight you have to look for batteries all around the area. Not only that, they REALLY made you have to think (Who knew!?), thinking on how you having to us your ammo and batteries at the right time. If you randomly go shooting everything that moves knowing that your on a limited supply of ammunition, you're pretty much fucked then and there. I don't know about you people, but I love challenge.
Atmosphere - 10/10
When it comes to atmosphere, for a psychological horror game, you really have to make it as eerie and claustrophobic as possible. And with Afraid of Monsters, ruMpel did a damn good job of making so you feel as though your alone... But also making it feel that your not... It really made me have a few good pause and breathing session.
Music and Sounds - 10/10
The sounds were just... Very scary and tormenting for me since I usually play with headphone on (I have a baby brother that is always sleeping) a VERY GOOD example of this is when your done with making it through the first red following exercise, where your running down the f***ing terrifying hallway and ending up hearing "Over here..." "Hey, over here"... I ended up getting side tracked and falling off the f***ing trail of red dots.
Graphics - 9/10
The textures and props have some great detail put in to them, along with the monster animtations and such.
Replay Value
Yes. There are 4 ways to beat the mod and 4 endings all together. Also, don't forget the Normal and Hard mode.
Overall Score - 10/10
I have to say, this was one of the best games or mods I've ever played. A 10/10 ad my highest recommendations. Thank ruMpel and Minuit for making a great mod and scaring the living f*** out of me.

AOM:DC is great it's true, but your review is a bit too biast in giving it 10/10. That would imply that it was perfect, which it isn't, nothing ever is!
It's true that with all video games, nothing is perfect. I believe there are 2 types of reviewers. Those that give games 10 because they are as close to perfection as possible, and those that never give 10, because they feel like that is an embodiment of perfection (which can't exist).
This reviewer, obviously, feels that AOM:DC is as close to perfection as possible, and I actually feel the same way. For what AOM:DC tried to achieve, it absolutely did.
Oh and "biast" is spelled biased. Just so you know.
Well, I REALLY like the game. Its perfect (In my opinion).
actually the graphics are pretty good
Great review, I would have to say that all of that is true :D
BTW: It really has good graphics for a HL1 mod.
