It has been 2 years since this mod got released, so I wanted to somehow celebrate it. The only way I can think of how, is to show you ModDB members, who might have missed this mod, that it exists! As it has been Halloween, I thought that this would be quite interesting to post, as this is a horror mod. Well fitting for this kind of weather and atmosphere that is going on right now.
You play a guy named David, who is a drug-addict. He can no longer stand it out, so he decides to seek help at a hospital. When he's there, as addicted he is, he goes into a restroom and takes some more pills. But this time, it goes very wrong. From the pills you take, you start to experience hallucinations, and those hallucinations are your enemies. But you can't stop take the pills, because then you will die.
The mod has four different endings and altarnate routes, which makes it interesting to replay it. And if you see all those endings, you will be rewarded with a secret neat item. There are also plenty of secret hidden things that you can find.
As you might understand, this mod is an improvement of the older version Afraid of Monsters. I made Afraid of Monsters alone, so it didn't turn out that well. So with Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut, I got help from James Marchant, Minuit, with very much things.
Currently, me and James and some other people, are working with a new Half-Life 1 horror mod called Cry of Fear. It has the same theme, and we think you might like it if you like this mod.
I know some people have complained about an error which says: "Cache_TryAlloc: 12708976 is greater than free hunk" There is a simple fix to that error if you're using Steam. Right click the game in Steam, click properties, click "Set Launch Options", then type;
"-heapsize 512000"
There is one more thing I would like to say before this news ends, and that is; how many people would like to see a proper Co-op "expansion" to this mod? If you want, we might be able to make it. That was it for this news. I hope you like Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut, and my other upcoming project.

This is just some very small gameplay, so you can see how it's kinda going to be. The quality is very bad, that's because I just don't want to spoil so...

I could never finish this. It was to freaking hard and scary. Seriously, F.E.A.R and whatnot is like CAKE compared to this.
Co-op Please, I really dont like to piss myself alone -_-'
Wow. This was amazing. I didnt think you could get any scarier than the original. A great piece of work. 11/10
BTW: my buddy wants to know if this mod will work with his 1.1.0.6 with the hd pack.
I'd be excited if you were to make a coop version. Maybe then I'd actually be able to play through the whole game D:
Having a problem with the game, "Cache_TryAlloc: 12708976 is greater than free hunk" I've tried launching it with -heapsize 512000, no luck, it crashes after the black and white world map. Using half life with steam.
I also still have the problem after trying "-heapsize 512000"; I tried higher sizes as well because I read that this is the amount of RAM you allocate to the game in kb. But, it still locks up at the first load point in the first red dots maze.
That's odd. What are your computer specs?
Windows 7 home premium, 2.50 gb ram, AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual-core processer tk-55, Not sure what else to tell you
I'd love to see Afraid of Monsters: DC turned into a coop mod, me and my friends would love to play it.
Well if you didn't already know this, that you can play through the whole mod on SVEN. But nothing would be different, it would be like playing Half-Life 2 in Synergy.
