Adventure Middle Earth (AME) is a mod, in fact a Total Conversion, for the game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" by Bethesda Softworks. Our aim is to build JRR Tolkiens Middle Earth mainly known from the Lord of the Rings.

We are not making a Middle Earth game like to the ones which have already been made. We will neither only create parts of Middle Earth nor only make some adventures or campaigns for the player. We are creating whole of Middle Earth (from Lindon in the west to the sea of Rhûn in the east and from the Grey Mountains in the north to the River Harnen in the south) using the typical Elder Scrolls freedom giving the player countless options of playing the game. Some features and other information from the FAQ:
- 660 km² (Oblivion is about 42 km²)
- 7500-8000 real NPCs (not just dummies or orcs)
- 8 playable peoples each having its own story (altogether about 250 story-quests)
- 750 side quests
- grafical realisation of whole Middle Earth
- realisation of many battles of the War of the Ring

Our sources are the books of Tolkien himself, and not the films. We are trying to make a Middle Earth game Tolkien would actually like and about which one can say: "Yeah, this really is Middle Earth, worthy of Tolkien.". So that is our aim, and we hope to reach it. If you want to help us, just contact me (grabba@gmx.de). We need 2D- and 3D-Artists, no matter from which language. For textworkers or others we will only accept Germans, as we are a German mod.
A German Mod?! So not in English? Do not fear. We develop the game in German first and then translate it into English. Our homepage, right now, still is only available in German, but the English version will follow in the next weeks.

For any further questions just visit our website or post in the forums. I hope you enjoy and like our project.

P.S.: There have already been two other entries for our project here. The first one had been closed due to a change in game engine from Morrowind to Oblivion about a year ago and the second one has been taken over by a former teammember in favour of his own project.

The day has come: The first ingame material of AME is available - Screenshots of the terraform created by our heightmap. It has already been published exclusively at our new partner-site TES-Oblivion.de some hours ago, and now they can also be viewed here.

Along with the ingame screenshots the gallery is fit for service again - not yet entirely but almost. You cannot only see the new ingame-shots of the heightmap there, but also most of the other images.

The images from the heightmap are all from the region around the Blue Mountains in the northwest of Middle Earth. Furthermore it has to be said that this is not the final version but still WIP. Anyway it can give a good impression of what it will be like. When the landscape is eventually textured and filled with objects it will of course look much more alive. But for a first impression this should be enough.

Just visit the Gallery, and there best visit the section called Ingame-Screenshots. Those who want to tell us their opinion about the images may do this in the forums.

Enjoy the images

you know Gamewinners has become a breeding ground for pop ups that can for a not so mysterious reason can get past most pop up blockers?"

You know that if you're falling prey to pop ups, it means your not properly protected. What pop up blocker you using? I use ZoneAlarm and Spyware Blaster, and have never had a pop-up while using them. Never. Besides, I was just trying to be a nice guy and tell someone how to get cheat codes.

But anyways...this forum has been kinda lonely without Grabba around, maybe on vacation or back to school? :|

Just slide the difficulty bar down if you need help playing the game. It's under game options on the main menu.

For anyone who doesn't get the AME newsletter, I'll post it here:

For sure it is some time that you have last heard of us, but in the public as well as in the internal forums we had a lot of company. This means that on the one hand many questions were put by observers of AME (who wants to know more: read the forums), and that, on the other hand, team-inside a lot has happened and good progress has been achieved.

At the moment six people intensively work on the planning and textual elaboration (stories, Quests, dialogs etc.) of various regions. Among them are Lothl?rien, Thal and Lindon. A small poem of Erebor which you can find in Thal is called "Feuerflucht" (http://abenteuer-mittelerde.de/downloads/AME_2006_08_23.pdf) (only the German text, though).

Also in Concept-Arts and in the Modelling area there is other good progress to report. In addition, we have already provided a huge number of ground textures from which we would like to show you one. It is a mud texture (http://abenteuer-mittelerde.de/gallery/ob_groundtexture_01.jpg and Abenteuer-mittelerde.de) made by Kayo.
And not at least of course, also the Heightmap on which Seven-D works made huge progress. Now there is a new Rendershot of the Weathertop (http://abenteuer-mittelerde.de/gallery/art_weathertop_n.jpg) in the Gallery, because the old one did not really meet our requirements to the mountain. This Screenshot shows the various possibilities, which GeoControl offers us. (It is merely one Terragen-Rendershot. Ingame it will look different to the Weathertop a little bit.)
The progress of the last weeks lies partly, absolutely, also with both of the new Teammembers, to the Concept artiste KFMCcall and the region planner and text worker Mornon which I would like to welcome them in the team at this point.

Since Kontrabasstintenfass ist the leader of our Musicsection, a lot of work was done for nearly the first time. We reached to the conclusion that hireing two artists only working on foley-recording, which means recording all kinds of sounds, would be helpful. We also added a profile of our requirements to the (http://abenteuer-mittelerde.de/index.php?p=jobs) Jobsektion.

At last I want to point out to the fact that we have started the first Community action in our Middle-Earth section (http://abenteuer-mittelerde.de/index.php?p=mittelerde). Everybody is invited warmly to take part.

We would be glad about feedback to the works.

Greetings
Your AME-Team

I was wondering. Will you be able to fight in the battle on Minas Tirith? And if so what do you think it would be like.

By the way this mod looks awesome! Can't wait!

You will definitely not be able to play one of the fellows. Just imagine Boromir had not wanted to take the ring at amon hen? What then?! Or Gandalf had not fought against the Balrog in Moria? Especially this Gandalf vs. Balrog thing was so important for the history of ME... As was almost each action of any of the fellows...

Well I guess you have a point....the movie was a good example of that, seeing as how it took many turns from the book, and yet the outcome was still the same. Yet I don't think the team is going to let us play as the fellowship. It's not that big a deal though, Middle-Earth is vast and wide. I don't think we'll be bored lol :D

I think you should be able to join the fellowship because Oblivion is an open ended game and also because i really don't think joining the fellowship would change history because the path was decided by Frodo and not the other members
