Action Unreal Tournament is a modification for Unreal Tournament 2004 that adds realistic weapons, better damage simulation, new gameplay, and bags of action-movie style.
Ever watched a John Woo flick and said 'I wish I could do that' as a guy dived down the stairs, akimbo pistols blazing? Just seen Bruce Willis blow away a room of bad guys and wished it was you?
Now you can. And why watch a movie when you can play it?
For those with a history of action games, AUT is the followup to the hugely successful and innovative Action Quake2 and Action Half-Life; we hope to continue the tradition of fun gameplay, innovative features and consistent quality. It's based around concepts incorporated into the unreleased version developed for Unreal Tournament (1999).
AUT is going to take the things we've learned from Action Quake 2, Action Half-Life and our development in the Unreal engine and combine them into one fast moving action packed extravaganza.
The Concept
The idea is that each bullet counts for a lot, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't pump them full of as many bullets as you can spare; they'll get a chance to shoot back before they die if you don't finish them off. Cover actually means something, it's better to make sure there's a pillar or a desk near by to duck behind, especially if you have to reload or bandage yourself.
Everyone knows that to be a true action hero you must do at least two things. At some point in your career you must 'go akimbo' even if only for a minute or too. Pick up two pistols and try and take out the guy raking everyone with an automatic. However, AUT will allow the player, in a completely exclusive gameplay design, to go 'mixed akimbo'. Using the left and right mouse buttons, the player will able to operate a mixed variety of weapons at the same time. Imagine clearing the area with your mp5 and picking off the rest with your pistol!
The other thing you need to do is dive. When you dive you become a smaller target, become faster and are no longer where your opponent was aiming and you look damn smooth while you're doing it!

Hi,
I am here with a few important updates regarding the impending Action Unreal Tournament – Release 1. First of all, there is no confirmed release date, however it will be before the 15th and I will be sure to let you know when the decision is made.
Secondly, it appears that the assault rifle will not make this release due to resource constraints amongst the team, we simply can not include it and promise the same high quality as the rest of our weapon models and skins. Don’t let this get you down though, as I can announce two more brand new maps that will make this release. ‘Office’ by Parkar is, unsurprisingly perhaps, a floor in an office building whereas ‘Docks’ by Gasmask, assisted by
Seekm, is a dark dock based level. Expect to see map showcases sometime this week featuring them and the two other brand new R1 maps, ‘Wikked City’ and ‘Great Balls of Fire’.

In case that sounded sarcastic, it was 100% scincere. I still play AHL and TS, and was looking forward to a mod like it on UT2004.
