'Acropolis' is a fully-fledged multiplayer total conversion for the Source Engine.
The mod is based at around 500BC, during the Greco-Persian war era where Prince Xerxes invaded Greece.
Join the ranks of the loyal Spartans - The elite of the elite, you have been chosen to fight by Leonidas' side in a counter attack to stop the Persians where they stand in their efforts to overtake Greece, Or join King Xerxes' army of the damned - The Immortals. You and your fellow soldiers were once men, but are now tormented, disfigured and horrific beings. Xerxes has promised you and your fellow men everlasting life if you conquer Greece on your Crusade of the disturbed.
The Mod will have the following features -
- Strong horror themes throughout.
Fight the Persian army consisting of horrendously disfigured mutants and disturbingly mutilated beings, whos very sounds and movements make your skin crawl.
Go to battle against the mighty Spartans, trained to kill from birth. War drums fill the air, joined with aggresive war chants and a progressing phalanx formation on your position.
- Formations. Use your communication skills to form a Phalanx to squewer charging enemies where they stand, or quickly huddle together and raise your shields to block yourself and fellow Spartans from ranged attack.
- Optimize your combat style. View whilst wearing a helmet is restrictive, so it's down to you whether you want to take it off. If you take it off, bear in mind you are a lot less protected. It's down to you whether to choose field of view or combat safety. The same applies for things such as shields, drop it and you run faster, but you are a lot more susceptible to attacks.
- Gritty and realistic combat. If you're stabbed in the face with a Spartan's sword, you're not going to have much face left - and that's what this mod is going to be like. We are having brutal and realistic combat. Decapitations and limb loss will play a major part in game play.
The mod is shaping up nicely and exactly how we want it to.

Well, seeing as the Acropolis mod team only formed about a week ago, things are going superbly. We've already got some media releases for you guys coming up soon, and the whole team are working as hard as they can to get some stuff out for the public.
With a site in production, maps being worked on and concept art being drawn up, there isn't much time to waste. Realisticly, this project will be a very long, hard slog, but rest assured, our members are 100% dedicated to the task and are working as hard as they can on their designated assignments.
Expect some map screen shots of the Battle of Thermopylae sometime next week, and hopefully we can get some models up for you guys to gawp at too next week. :)
For now, here's some tasters of our work -

A concept for the Spartan Leader.

Another concept of what we want the mutant Persian to look like. Expect this guy to be a lot meaner, bigger and uglier in the next release.
We are currently looking for modellers and coders, so if you're interested, please PM me!
That's it for now folks!
Stay tuned.

Okay, after a hiatus we are back. However, we still need everyone we can to get this mod on the road. If you are interested in any position, pm me!
Please Idle and support #Acropolis
Yeah I took a look at that mod, it looked really good and it's a shame the guys stopped work on it.
But then, it's a completely different concept to what we're trying to achieve. Thanks for the comment though dude.
