"A Story of Madness" is a Half Life 2 Episode 2 mod inspired by Silent Hill games. This mod relies heavily on story and atmosphere. Creating a horrific atmosphere like Silent Hill games did is the main goal of this mod. You may call this an total conversion, since most of the content is new and mod has nearly no similarity with Half Life 2 story wise or gameplay wise.

To thinke that thirty years haue passed since the Mayflower did arrivee to this lande. We loste half our crewe then; but are still mightily thankful to the Lord for this chance. Back in England my life woulde haue been for naught, and that ye knowe, dear mother. I am sorry for not writting to ye in the past three years, and do knowe I had ye terribly preoccupied; but good paper is found hardily. Knowe that I haue prepared euerything so ye can come to this new land of opportunity. I got me a small fishing boate, it is but a canoe with a net, but is giuing me my sustain. Charles, a friend of me, hath telleth me that he seeth indians gathering on the beach when we last fished; he thinks they will attack the village. I haue laughed many a time because of this, for the indians are all but naïue, always menacing and neuer really doing a thing. It pains me to haue found as little paper, but at least I wrotee again. Giue my regards to Mr. Bacon.
I loue ye and hopee to see ye soon, mother.
Dearly,
Acton Breeden
Hello and thanks for reading another news update of our survival horror mod for Half Life 2: Episode Two, A Story of Madness. We were working very hard lately and now it is time to reveal our protagonist, Jack.
Jack Southway, a 30 years old high school maths teacher. He lives in a town in New England's northeastern coast, in Maine, called Still Waters. Jack lost his wife a few years back, but he doesn't know how; she just vanished one day. Ever since, he's been living without a purpose; he has grown utterly unadventurous, leading a monotonous life. Jack is as basic as a human being can get.
But all this is on the outside; in the inside, Jack mourns his wife as if she had died. He marks his desk after each day that goes without her. Jack spends countless hours working, hoping to get some false peace of mind.
At the school, people talk about him. They say that he was a better man, that he smells, that he is grumpy, that he is slowly dying and even that he should die. For all that is wrong in his life, Jack still lives. The deep feeling that there is something amiss in his life, the terrible certainty of a wife he had before the one he mourns, but that he just can't remember, keeps him struggling; if not to actively look for an answer, at least with hopes that the answer will find him.

So uhh...i read a few random paragraphs...do you guys need an english translator...you did alright, but random periods, and mis-use of words kinda make me think this mod won't be very well translated..
To be a very good English translator you need good grammar too. Work on that.
Don't mind my writing skills, I'm not the writer of the mod, but I'm writing the news updates, so you'll see more of these :P
Thanks for the warning though :)
so, probably this mod is gonna make good use of dynamic shadows and realistic outdoors, considering it's for Ep2... so far, so good, thumbs up on my part.
Yeah, I'll try to use every feature of the Source Engine to its limits.
Thanks :)
You know, I haven't said this before I think, but I really enjoy your mapping Jokerme. Good luck to the team and the project, keep up the amazing work. !!!!
Thanks for the kind words mate, it really means a lot ;)
Maybe your right EarthtoJohn. I guess the real impact of barbed wire is the historically emotional stigmatisms associated with it's image alone. Guess that's why I like it.
Reminds me of the website PottehUK made.
