Here is a article with some questions that have been frequently (and some not so frequently) asked questions about KoA (Kingdoms of Arda).

-How long until KoA releases?
It is impossible to answer this right now, it is still a long time until then. The mod tools have accelerated our production, but we can't and won't give a date.
-What inspiration will KoA take from the movies, the books, TLD, etc?
Our primary inspiration is from the main trilogy, the books will be used to supplement them in times of lack of creativity or poor choices. TLD is a big inspiration being the biggest LotR mod for Bannerlord's predecessor. We are familiar with the vast majority of LotR works, if we are not using ideas from one of them, its likely on purpose.
-What art direction will this mod be taking?
We will be following the Weta designs for the movies almost entirely. We will use other sources such as concept, Games Workshop and previous Lord of the Rings modifications. We will not follow much from Shadow of Mordor and LOTRO.
-When will KoA take place in?
January, 3016 T.A. (2 years before The Fellowship leaves Rivendell). It will be possible for the player to attend the Council of Elrond along with other events mentioned in the books & movies.
-Where will KoA take place?
We plan to cover a very large portion of Middle Earth (with the possibility to expand further south, north and east). Although first version will only cover Gondor, Rohan, Mordor, Isengard, Harad, and Dunland, the map will be expanded far in all directions. We will be detailing Middle-earth throughout the development of the mod.
-Can you reforge Arnor?
Arnor as part of the Reunited Kingdom, yes.
-Can I join the Fellowship?
-Yes you will be able to join The Fellowship if you are present at the Council of Elrond and have the right amount of influence etc. with certain characters. As an evil character you are able to oppose the Fellowship as well.
-What races will there be?
Playable races: Men, Dúnedain, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Orcs, Goblins, Uruks *We do understand that orc and goblin describe the same thing. But the orcs from places like Moria and Goblin-Town will feature a different skeleton, facial features, skin tones, and body mass compared to an orc from somewhere like Mordor. We describe the race that typically lives in caves as "Goblins" and the ones elsewhere as "orcs". Non-playable: Trolls, Ents, Half-trolls, Oathbreakers (Ghosts), Barrow-wights Mounts: Wargs, Mumakil, Great Beasts
-Will there be fellbeasts, dragons, chariots, boars, rams, goats, pigs, elk, deer or any similar type of mounts?
No. Some of these would be impossible to add realistically and visually appealing to Bannerlord(fellbeasts and dragons). While the others are not lore-accurate, break balance (dwarven cavalry), and not visually appealing to the team, so the amount of work to put in these complex mounts would not be worth it. We will include new skeletons for various races like hobbits, dwarves, wargs, trolls, goblins etc. We plan to add Gollum as well, but it all depends if we can make visual appealing animations.
-Will it be possible to kill certain characters (Frodo, Aragorn, Saruman etc.)?
Yes! It is possible to kill pretty much everyone, but if they are known characters they will be more unlikely to die. Characters like the Nazgûl can’t be killed until Sauron is destroyed.
-What are the factions and settlements?
There will be approximately be 25 major factions factions with a large spattering of minor factions. Learn more here: Moddb.com
-Will you take advantage of the crafting system?
Currently we have no plans for using the crafting system.
-Can I create my own kingdom, castle or be king?
The player will have ways to take control of specific factions or create one based on the one they start with.
-Will music from the films be added?
No, this is not needed because our musicians will make our own soundtrack.
-What is story mode?
Story mode is entirely separate from our campaign. It is a series of scenarios that can be played from the perspective of a hero or soldier. Examples are Aragorn at Helm’s Deep or Éowyn at the Battle of Pelennor Fields.
-Can I donate money to the modding team?
No, we are not accepting donations.
-Can I help?
If you would like to apply to the team, please look at #recruitment on the discord.
"-Will there be banners on the field of battle?
If there are no field banners in the base game we will take it upon ourselves to add them in."
Do you mean bannermen?
If so, how will they work? Like will random units be given banners, or can you actually train bannermen that improve morale and look badass in battles.
Yes bannermen, they will probably be actual units. Where you can only get them as a lord and spawn with lords.
maybe you could recruit them in your fiefs for a high price, they would raise the morale a lot and should be good fighter too :)
Yeah i was alluding to that:) as when you get a feif is when you choose a banner(if you dont start as a noble) so you will get them from there
:D nice. so what are you thinking about the noble banners? will one faction have all the same banner or most vassals?Because Prince Imrahil has a different banner from the rest of the Gondor Realm so do other 2 or 3 lords. Of course you could make like several banners for a faction but all having resemblance towards the main banner. Will there be customizable banners for we to create?
I think there will be Dol Amroth, lebbenin, etc etc Bannermen depending on the lord, like you said. When you choose Bannermen you will have a choice of your faction and all of their variants and your own banner as well.
that is so awesome. Say thank you in one language is not enough so...
thank you, merci beaucoup, gracias, obrigado
This mod is #1 on my watchlist. I've play a s-tonne of 'The Last Days' for Warband.
I hope same thing will happen here.
Good luck guys!!
Thanks and glad to hear it man!
Do you think you'll add any possible One Ring scripts? Or is the One Ring not really going to play a part in this mod since it takes place a little bit before the fellowship departs from Rivendell.
Hmm we would like to have a One Ring script at one point. We have set the game before the fellowship to have this option remain open. It would have to involve the character a lot as having one of the strongest facs destroyed without input from the character would be rather game breaking. Along with this Aragorn becoming king is a potential quest tied to that.
Will there be Valar and Maiar? If so they will have unique capabilities?
There will be no Valar. There will be a few Maiar. Such as Sauron, the wizards, the Balrog. Each's abilities willbe unique to themselves but haven't been decided as of yet.
I imagine Sauron won't be wondering around from day one will he? Will it be event linked, such as the return of the ring to mordor?
Yep, most if not all will be quest related. Also I think he had regained his physical form mostly by time of war of the ring... According to the books at least. Don't remember entirely. But will stay garrisoned in Barad Dur and then become aggressive with the return of the ring.
Will you use the Mount and Blade Warband mod, TLD, as inspiration? It's a fcking brilliant mod and I'd love to see a thing like it in Bannerlord. Also, what about a functioning storyline like in Viking Conquest, where you either play on the side of man to destroy the orcs, or on the side of the orcs to destroy man (kind of like you could choose to either, spoilers, destroy or aid the pagans/vikings against the christians/saxons, or vice versa.)
We will be using TLD for inspiration where needed. Although we plan to be an entirely different mod and experience.
There is going to be many different storylines for the player. Most are related to a faction or culture. Some examples;
Reclaiming Khazad Dum
Reclaiming Eregion
Bring the ring to Saruman
Bring the ring to Sauron
Make Aragorn king and many more.
How will the custom sword features be implemented in your mod? That's the one thing that gets me totally thrilled about bannerlord, but I think it'd look strange to have a curvy elvish blade with a great dwarvish haft, or a crude orcish scimitar with a crossguard and handle of a gondor sword (as badass as that would be, saying you picked the peices from men you've slaughtered).
We will try to have weapon creation part of the mod. It will either be able to create any combination or you will have to visit a Dwarven blacksmith to make Dwarven weapons and the same for Elves etc.
Likely will be the prior, if you think it looks strange don't make it:P
So from what it seems like you guys are going for is like a middle earth mod with like a bunch of alternative outcomes..like instead of the story we know it more like "what if this happened or what if it happened like this" "what if he had won or what if this person had got the ring instead" to make a bunch of different outcomes and stories that are all by the players choice and how theyd like to see middle earth turn out
Pretty much yeah, basically creating a Middle Earth to put the player in and allowing them to make any choices they want, retaining the sandbox feel.
No hobbits?
Fixed.
I can not find it, but I was reading an article and it said something about being a Troll? Would this be exclusively for custom mode if at all? I imagine that you aren't going to have Troll commanders for sandbox. I mean, this is no Shadow of War. But I also know that none playable characters include trolls so that part of the Article confused me.
You cannot be a troll in the main sandbox campaign.
We discussed the possibility of having trolls playable in custom modes like multiplayer and story mode.
We didn't add trolls to playable races because we didn't want to give the wrong impression about the campaign and we are not certain about trolls in custom game modes.
Just one question...
Why are both orcs AND goblins listed among playable races?
According to lore those two are in fact the same thing.
Unless you're planning on adding different (possibly hunchbacked) skeletons and models for the Goblintown orcs/goblins?
We do get this questions a lot, so I think I will add the explanation to this article.
First off I would disagree. Orcs and Goblins are not the same race, in the way we define the two. They ARE the same species though. The same way how Dunedain and Northmen are different races, but are both the same species; men.
I do agree that orcs and goblins are basically exchangeable words lore-wise, like Uruk and Uruk-Hai. But, in general we see the orcs of the Misty Mountains called goblins, and orcs from places like Mordor are simply called orcs.
Since the goblins from Moria and the Misty Mountains live different lifestyles they get different traits; larger eyes, more hunched over, different skin tones, and smaller in mass.
We will call the smaller and hunched over orcs goblins, and the "normal" orcs simply orcs. Hence two different races.
And I understand what defines species, being able to produce viable offspring. So technically orcs, men, elves, and Dwarves(?) are all the same species :p
I welcome the developers, I really look forward to your mod as well as the game itself, I have only a couple of questions for you. Aren't you afraid that the right holders of Tolkien’s works will force you to close the project?
god damn i want to donate you

Now that modding tools are announced and they will contain map modding tools, will you start building a middle earth map and middle earth cities and will you start hiring? Bannerlords Steam site sais modding tools will come out end of august. This is probably the mod I'm looking forward to the most from all mods I've ever seen and I can't wait for its release, even if it's a long time away.
will it be this year or the next </?
-How long until KoA releases?
It is impossible to answer this right now, it is still a long time until then. The mod tools have accelerated our production, but we can't and won't give a date.
I have two questions, first will there be magic for heroes like Gandalf and second which iconic characters player can play( can i be nazgul pls ).
Magic will be non existent or extremely limited. The player currently is not able to play anyone but themselves in the main campaign.
Des nouvelles de ce mod ?
