The idea of this mod is to allow you to play as any given race from the series and also from other existing mods out there, which was started by chris some years ago, many people have helped the mod get it where it is right now, and there isnt much left to finish up other than bug hunting and possible replacing of ship models. I would like to see this mod make MOTY at some point but i need to focus on stuff that needs to be done. Currently the few remaining teams are being worked on me, right now im focused on cleaning up the mod to make it as friendly and enjoyable as possible which is why i would like people to play test the mod and help me find any potential problems with the mod itself and get them taken care of. Also to determine what needs to be balanced, nerfed, buffed etc is also another role i would like testers to help out with by giving me their opinions, inputs etc. You can contact me here or via my Email

Current downloads of this mod are up on sourceforge.
I update the mod every now and then so be sure to check the sourceforge page for last updated to get the current working variant. In addition i post what changed have been done from the last on a facebook fan site for homeworld 3.

The only races that arent fully done as of now are Tobari, Bentusi, those 2 teams are in need of more ships in order for them to be fully completed.

Not mentioned in the manual is the CPU Attack Priority Option - use this option to add extra difficulty when playing a match, there are five settings our testers have told us that the "More Often" choice is the best for a good hard match. Note: these settings are independent of the standard Easy to Expert choices for difficulty giving the player 15 choices for AI gameplay.

Homeworld2 must be patched to version 1.1 for the mod to work correctly.

Your data folder (usually c:\program files\sierra\homeworld2\data) must not contain a different deathmatch.lua - as it may override the deathmatch.lua that is within the HWU big file.

If you want your badges to display properly on the homeworld 2 teams aka Hiigaran and Vaygr you need to have shadows disabled otherwise they will be displayed as a white box, this is due to shaders being used from HW@ to display their cruiser correctly which seems to be conflicting with ours.

The deathmatch_test game mode can be selected in the options menu, this will allow you to check out some of the more work in progress stuff as well as load the map of HWU's donated but unused ships.

Donated materials and a full list of credits can be viewed in the Credits menu from the main menu in HW2.
Lastly i did create a video tutorial explaining how to set up your in game races correctly so you can avoid desktopping, so here is the link to the video hope it helps out new players.

I am looking to recruit people who would like to work on homeworld universe because i intend to port it over to the new hw 2 HD when it comes out but i will require help. Skillsets i am looking for are as follows down below.


I also would like to add more gametypes to the mod besides the good old deathmatch and i have a few ideas. One is Capture the flag where you capture an important object on the map and have to hold it for X minutes and you win. Another i thought of would deal with convoys that you have to protect as they pass through the sector, that sort of stuff. Right now the main thing is redoing models and the textures for the races and there are 22 races with 549 ships at present. If anyone is interested in joining the team for HWU please post. The mod has been going on for nearly 6 years come this feb i believe and its basically been me working alone on it. Also i would like to improve the FX for ion beams, kinetic and the energy cannons and missiles. I also have starscream working on 2 special large super capital ships for the hiigaran team that rob cunningham made concept artwork for, Lazarus and Amazon Queen so gonna need help with those as well. We are working to make these teams more full featured - the T-Mat & Progenitor teams are really just place holders at the moment. The progenitors have been left on purpose in the hopes of receiving a donation of a fully finished Progenitor team (there have been so many). The T-Mat will now feature the T-Mat Frigate from dustwars and there are two other ships in the works. Part of the problem is the large amount of work to do and the lack of modders to help. The choice was also made to concentrate on the Tobari team and try to finish up with that race before moving on too much.

With some luck I may post a new version soon.

basically they summon your other ships into the game, once your other stuff jumps in you can scuttle that thing.

actualy they summon the ships, but they still function as hyperspacegates and they can be moved more than once which is a hidden plus, due to the fact of unified capture,use, and construction, you can capture an enemy's gate of the same type and use it as a secondary mobile hypersapce gate that can be moved around continuously

normally you can link them together if you have 1k in ru to make the link that will enable ships to jump from one gate to the other. But i think that both gates have to be owned by you to do that. also once you do that you cant move these ones ever agian.
