A modification for Mount and Blade: Warband, set in the universe of George R. R Martins "A Song of Ice and Fire". Also known as the popular HBO TV-series "Game of Thrones".
It does depend on the sword...but in general, from the sword descriptions available, almost all are said to be black/ near-black/ dark gray/ quite dark in color. Multiple swords also have names referencing darkness or the night. Ned's own Ice - and by extension, Oathkeeper and Widow's Wail - could also fit into this, as it could be a play on the term "black ice."
No correction or disagreement intended - just responding to the comments! I assumed they would look a bit darker once I actually got a hold of them in-game, so I was going to withhold personal judgement until then.
In response to Pete, I also pictured something akin to Damascus. I think at least one, perhaps two, of the better-known blades is likened to damascus steel, though obviously not by that name in the books.
In the pictures is clear that the blades are pretty darker than plain steel. I'd say they look "dirty" rather than dark gray, but it's probably just due to the light reflection. I bet they look dark gray with a weaker light source.
Good job Cozur! That's the way...! ;)
The only description I keep remembering (aside from the vague "dark") is "smokey" but what the does that even mean?
I always pictured something like Damascus steel, myself.
Looks amazing, I believe they shouldn't be darker than they are GRRM said that they look like the damascus blades in the time hence the darkness comes from when compared to a normal steel. however The hilts could be a bit longer (Personal opinion) as many of them was used without the shield which makes me think that they are not arming swords, but a rather longsword where the user could use the weapon on one hand and may also strike and block using the second hand at the pommel
Would be lovely if they were but 1 point of swing-damage, 1 point of thrust-damage and 2 points of speed above masterwork castle steel. That way they're not overpowered, yet they feel worthwhile to get your hands on. Just because they're Valyrian doesn't mean you're obligated to make them into uber weapons. A slight edge over other swords would make it fun to work to obtain them.
These will be tournament rewards, similar to the Valyrian dagger we can get right now?
I should think that they will be quest items and lord's items as they are in the story. And lore suggest that no sane man would give away Valyrian steel as a tournament reward as they are priceless, even Tywin Lannister can't afford one.
I was more referring to how a Valyrian dagger is a current reward. But what you say is true.
I think a proper way might be by taking a major town or important castle, having a small chance to loot it if you choose to pillage that place. Perhaps finding it in the armory of that castle or town.
As good as they look, I agree with you a bit. Very tempted to model and texture a few swords myself also as a donation of sorts for the fun I had with this mod.
Aren't they described as having a pattern weld like Damascus steel in the books? The swords look great though, I hope the viking looking one is red rain :P
Could you add house Dayne`s ancestral sword Dawn? Its bright as a star and it is the only ancestral sword that isnt made of valyrian steel, but metal from a star. You could make it as a quest!
Gexel I don't think these swords are released yet or the daggers I haven't seen them anywhere so can only assume they will be released on the next patch. Also Wild fire isn't as good as it was on earlier patches it was WILD would actually burn green and kill everyone nearby. New wild fire is more like a weak grenade
HOLY SEVEN HELLS VALAYRIAN STEEL!
Valyrian steel is darker, guys. Last time you said you were going to correct this :S
Gonna need a source for it being darker than this.
A Feast for Crows page 486 when Lyn Corbray drew his sword Lady Forlorn.
"Candlelight rippled along the smoke-gray steel of Corbray's blade, so dark that it put Sansa in mind of Ice, her father's greatsword".

These swords are dark gray. But they also have specular maps, making them look brighter than they are.
maybe you should make the specular maps weaker (?)

Well, can you make the spec color more gray instead of yellow?

Looks awesome!

looking pretty good.
Quick question as I cannot seem to find anything about it... its been quite a while since I played this mod - are Valyrian weapons/armor in the mod?
currently you can obtain one if you finish the a quest started in the tavern of White Harbour

I was expecting Valyrian swords to be more ornate, these look like common swords...

Are these coming in the next update or is there a way to download this into 2.0 sorry, yes im a novice at the modding stuff. OPPS! :)
