The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war a decade or so earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Empire against the German Empire, however with the release of Opposing Fronts the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as the French.
This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable.
Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instill fear into the enemy troops.

In commemoration for all the fallen in the First World War, we at The Great War 1918 mod team have prepared a special Armistice official update (which, in case you didn’t notice, coincides with Armistice Day).
This small update is not the ‘mammoth upcoming press release’ which we promised last time, so please don’t worry about the lack of ‘mammoth upcoming press release’ content!
Today we are showcasing our German Feldkanone ‘96, the fearsome field cannon which operated during the First World War. It was one of the most widely produced of all light artillery weapons during the early 20th century.
In The Great War 1918, much like the howitzers from Company of Heroes, German Imperial Army player will be able rain down an array of deadly projectiles upon enemy units from Feldkanones built on the map, ranging from high explosives to gas bombs.

D3@DM4N i'm not quite sure, but I would think the mod would cover the spring Offensive of 1918, you don't need several years of fighting to give the experience of World War I. As far as the Europe Campaign on the ground for America only lasted a little bit more then a year (from D-Day to VE Day.) This also lets the developer to use the most technology they can and allow it to be as actuate as possible. You don't want tanks running around in 1914 do you? But hey, thats just my view.
Its not out yet, the idea is great but the guy building it needs to work on advertising because of his advertising even if his mod came out "and" won game of the year i just wouldnt download it because i like realism a lot im a nazi for it duno why but this game is not realistic and therefore it is gonna have a lot of errors likea bunch of iraqies storming the trenches and then the declaration of independance is sign at the end of the battle and then Atilla the hun trys to tear down the great wall between america and canada good thing africa was in the way..... :I
Deadman I hope you know that they are doing somthing great, not many groups or modders bother doing WWI, also COH is perfect for the WWI platform anyway so as far as anyone is concerned we don't care if your going to download it or not, all I know is I'm so supporting this and seeing this all the way.
d3dm4n, the mod is based entirely on realism. on their site they have a team of historians working to make sure everythnig is realistic.
the mod will focus on the fighing of the war not the parts when they sat around dieing of flu, the same idea is used in COH, you focus on the fighing not the waiting around bit. its what makes war games FUN.

This is a really dumb idea, first off most soldiers died from the flu. (in "The great War")So is it sit and play hosptial and wait kind of game? also the war ended a year earlier the cease fire was ordered before 1918, so! if its a bunch of war vets drinking cough syrup this game has no back ground, makes no sense, and as ive noticed you are fantastic at making boxes. Good job! but for future reference though dont advertise the amazing box capabilities of your game your better off showing the few screens of units you do have and not the boxes.

The A7V was a tank introduced by Germany in 1918, near the end of World War I. There were 100 ordered for the spring of 1918, but only 20 were delivered. And actually the A7V was in that time very fast for a panzer of that size.
Sorry, I mean the Germans built 20 A7Vs, not 300 ;)
