Fistful of Frags is a multiplayer modification for Source engine settled in the Old West. Its key features include:

  • Fistful of Dollars game mode: original team oriented gameplay packed with fast paced action.
  • Few Dollars More, Bounty and DeathMatch additional game modes
  • Dynamic objectives: use your gun... and your brain too!
  • Notoriety player progression system: measures player contribution to its team in several areas (combat, objectives and teamplay).
  • Equipment and player full customization: spend your notoriety points in the exact weaponry, skills and visual customization you want. Includes more than 20 different items.
  • 15 weapons, most of them with a secondary attack mode: fists, knife, axe, Colt Navy 1851 (single and dual), Colt SAA "Peacemaker" (single and dual), Deringer .41, double barrel shotgun, Henry repeating rifle 1860, bow, Smith carbine 1857, Sharps rifle 1874, dynamite and explosive bow!
  • Fist fighting: stamina based combat, several kind of punches, including a special "knockout".
  • Anti-tk system: play with friendly fire on, like the big boys do!
  • 10 levels: western town, abandoned mission, desert forts, mexican village, mines, etc

We have been silent for more time than we used to, until now! Beta 1.5 is around the corner and we would like to invite you to our final tests we do with our habitual forum readers. Step by our site for further details.

We are also looking for translators, as our desire is to translate our modification to every language supported by Steam. It's not much work really, if you wish to collaborate take a look here.

And what's new in Beta 1.5? Here's a brief summary:

  • a complete new set of third person animations and poses, get ready for a much higher immersion level
  • map fof_desperados, a conversion from an spectacular CS:S level by jackennils
  • fof_tramonto, the final version of our classic map
  • dynamic respawn system vastly improved, that's one of our most distinctive features and finally it has reached the level of excellence we try to achieve in every aspect.
  • all in-game text translated to many languages
  • moving train added to El Paso
  • accuracy stats, type "stats" in chat to know the details about your aiming
  • new coachgun and fists 1st person animations
  • dual revolvers can be fired simultaneously now
  • crosshair is smaller and has a central dot, several options added to customize it
  • and many more gameplay tweaks, fixes and other things that could make this list 4 times larger.

If that's the client library, check you didn't downloaded the server files instead client ones by mistake. If that's not the case, is your SDK Base installed properly? Could be other cause which at the moment I'm not aware.

Not too much I guess, however couldn't say exactly how much because I didn't played that game. Anyway, all western themed games shares elements in common. The songs in the trailer are from classic spaghetti western movies.

I agree with red-frog about animation speeds. My grandma could probably draw a gun faster than the characters in the game. (The peacemaker speed is okay but the 1851 is wayyy slow.)
Also, what's with the super-poor fanning? I've seen a video on youtube of a guy drawing and then shooting 5 balloons in under a second with a single-action revolver. It's actually a pretty entertaining vid, you should watch it too. =) Youtube.com

More specific gripes:
Something with the crouching and jumping make crouch-jumping impossible. In the air, crouching is not allowed. In the act of crouching, jumping is not allowed. I understand this is probably to make the guys less mobile, but I think the stamina bar already does that well enough.

A minor annoyance: after shooting the Henry, iron sight mode can not be exited until after the lever is cocked. The only way out of it is to switch weapons. I noticed that upon switching back the lever has to be cocked anyway. (Which is awesome, btw.) So it shouldn't be too tough to implement a way exit iron sight right away... right?

I don't know if you heard this many times already, but the animations need to be faster.
Thats what I spotted the very first seconds after I spawned. Just imagine you would punch that slowly with your fists..

The Henry being faster and less accurate would just make it the same as the revolvers. It's a rifle, it needs all the accuracy it can get or there's no point choosing one over a pistol.
