Welcome adventurers, to the Lost World Returns Modification

Story

January 1942
An American submarine, USS S-26, disappears en route to her patrol station in Panama. The authorities tell of her accidental collision with an Allied submarine chaser, and her wreck was never salvaged.

August 1958
A young British scientist finds a weathered bottle on a beach in County Mayo, Ireland. Inside are the accounts of eight submariners, who in losing themselves in the tropical waters of the Atlantic, found a lost world. Their diaries speak of unseen creatures, believed long since extinct; but their drawings speak louder.

February 1960
Unable to convince the research council at his university, and mocked by his peers for his belief in hoaxes, the young scientist must make do with the provisions he can find. On an ancient fishing trawler, and with a rag-tag bunch of researchers from Europe and Asia – mainly students and well-wishers with little else to do – he sails east in search of the truth.

September 1962
After searching fruitlessly for nearly three years, and having lost the aid of all but the most loyal of his team, the young scientist now feels much older and admits defeat. Days before he is due to fly back to Europe from mainland USA, on one last trip, he too disappears.

August 1998
A Japanese-owned research vessel is heading out of Florida on a transatlantic journey. After years of fossil-hunting in the Bahamas and islands off the east coast, the international team have lost their funding and have to leave. They have no idea what they are about to discover instead.

It’s not long before the weather turns. And faster than most could have anticipated. The ship is caught in a raging storm and laid to waste against the rocks of a tropical island.

Morning. Among the survivors is Johann van de Beer, a private soldier hitching a ride as far as South Africa. But now he could be anywhere. There is also Dr. Saskia Brezhnev, a paleontological behavioural theorist, and one of the remaining research team. One of the few.

Those that made it through the night begin to notice things. Creatures. They soon realise the island is not what it seems. And that they are still not safe. You must now utilise Johann and Saskia’s unique abilities to find out the truth, to escape and to stay alive.

What happened on the island is for you to find out. If you can survive what was left behind.

The playable member of the science team is Dr. Saskia Brezhnev. She is a brunette, fairly plain and was born in Albania, 27 years ago. Her abusive military officer stepfather is the reason for her mistrust of soldiers and how she was schooled in the UK. She flourished, particularly in biology, and went on to study the little-known science of Behavioural Palaeontology at Oxford University under the once respected, but then ridiculed Professor John Hodges. She saw him as a father, and when he disappeared, it encouraged her passion for the subject, longing to live up to everything he had expected of her. She got her PhD and for a few years struggled to find funding for her own research, after she had given up on commercial enterprise as a merciless, money-grabbing undertaking, lacking a real scientific ethos. And so, short of money, and curious of the adventure, she has decided to accept IDEAHAMA'S offer of documenting anything notable found on the island; despite the fact she is not sure why she was chosen over other more experienced peers.

The male playable member of this team, and its leader, is Johann van de Beer, a 42-year-old South African. He was trained by and fought with the South African Defense Force, but left his job and South Africa very suddenly after his wife and two children died. The official story was that they contracted Lyme disease while Johann was on an operation. However, the delicate nature of the work he was doing led him to believe they were murdered. Broken, it is believed he took measures to exact his revenge before fleeing the country - as much to escape painful memories, than out of fear for his own life - although no one knows for sure. Much more is known about him since he left - at least within the world of mercenaries. He joined the French Foreign Legion, but was not there for long, not wanting to stay put. He moved from job to job, working for different governments and factions. He gained enemies, as well as great respect from men he fought with; and while he remained fearless of the former, the latter made him no less lonely.

Mentioning my old comment, will the humans also have artificial life along with the dinosaurs such as eating, task accomplishment and sleeping?

Hi arieas

Yes were from the operation flashpoint days, however only two of the original team members still remain (myself and maccollo)

Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot.

No real teaser just yet, were working hard on the AI and animations because lets face it, no one wants to play with static dinosaurs no matter how pretty they are ;)

Were all on a small break atm with various reasons from schoolwork, exams, holidays, some well earned time off and internet problems.

This is common practice in mod teams and we cannot always churn out mouth watering updates every week. Our media releases to the public only shows 1% of the work behind the images, and it can be very difficult.

The next update will be our website and from there on, expect more impressive updates but less of them in due course.

So far looking really good, this really deserves more recognition for the work, which I'd say is of professional quality.
Just a thought, is this the same team, and generally same mod that was being built in Operation Flashpoint?

Also, is there any chance of releasing one or two dinosaurs to play with tint he future, like a teaser, I'd imagine it would be a first.

This is probably the best od that I have ever seen for any game.

Please keep it up and don't let this one die.

Once I get my new laptop, I am basically buying crysis just for this mod.

Please tell me that you plan to use modern/movie related vehicles and weapons and not futuristic ones.

Any chance you are looking for people with ideas/ story writers to join the mod?
