RO mod to represent wars of the Mexica up to the Conquest in 1521. Aztec warriors, warrior-priests, captives for sacrifice, and Cortes and his allies battle in the Siege of Tenochtitlan.

The wargame aspect of this mod exists to drive the accurate reconstruction of real sites for archaeological study. The main point is for us to be able to walk into the Aztec Empire visually.

Terrain, buildings, weapons, shields, and uniforms are modeled from archaeological sources, period artwork, and paintings made by the Aztecs themselves.

This is so awkward it's awesome! I'll be waiting patiently to download this one. Also, if you need someone to proof-check your history, I'm your man. (World History major). Assuming your still working on this of course.

It seems that everyone who knows anything about modding for RO is busy expanding WWII mods. On the other hand there is a great deal of interest in the Aztec Mod, and I want to deliver it.

At this point I am researching the history, writing the code, building authentic models and optimizing, UV mapping, texturing and shading them, setting up the mod architecture, making the interface icons, designing a test level that will be true to history and fun to play, and much more.

I've thought about a one day session with a groups of modders who are busy with other mods but could all get together via forum or MSN or whatever to work all at once for a few hours on a Saturday:a blitz to get this project over the basic hurdles.

If you can contribute any time and energy at all, even for one-time just a few hours, I have a good enough handle on this mod that I can give you a specific part to work on with clear direction so your time will be appreciated not wasted.

Is anyone available and interested?

RO is pretty dead at times for an online game. I think it may be better to use the UT3 engine. But whatever I appreciate a mod being made for RO!

You guys are going for a realistic approach to the combat right?

Yes. The projectile and shock weapons will be authentic. Red Orchestra's true ballistics code is the base for the projectile weapons, so the arc and trajectory (and of course range and penetration) of the Dart, Arrow, and Stone will be as true to life as we can make it.

Check out the update in the forum Aztecmod.darkesthourgame.com about the new weapons code for the Atlatl and Dart, Bow and Arrow, and Sling and Stone.
