GMod Tower, in a nut shell, is a multi-story interactive complex. Inside the complex, or tower, exists a world unique to any other. Consider it as a "choose your own adventure" type of world. You set your own goals. In the tower, you will have plenty of options to create your own unique experience. You will be given a personal suite, with tons of available upgrades and modifications - all saved to your Steam ID. Even better, you will have the option to participate in missions together with your friends.
So why is GMod Tower in the Lua section? The map is powered by Lua. All events, systems, methods, and features are handed by Lua. The Lua is cake, while the mapping is the frosting. We're not only pushing the limits of Lua, but also the limits of Source...and your computer.

GMod Tower's design and idea was first created late March 2006. The original idea was for it to be for a GMod 10 release party, which was canceled due to the push back of GMod 10's release date. GMod Tower was first posted here late December. Since then, we have had a total of 63,360 views and 2,747 replies (last updated 4/16/07). Through hard work and dedication, our team has accomplished more than expected. Currently, we are aiming for a end of Summer 2007 release of GMod Tower.

At first, GMod Tower can seem confusing, but you will be placed in a tutorial server before connecting the real servers. In GMod Tower, you have the choice to complete a set of missions. Every time you complete a mission, you gain a level. For every level gained, you acquire 35 GMod Coins and an optional bonus upgrade for your suite. Once you have reached level 25, you will be given an invitation to Floor 0, the Golden Floor. What lies in Floor 0, you ask? You'll just have to wait and learn.
Storyline: GMod Tower is one of the last buildings on earth, untouched by combine forces. Many have speculated why the combine haven't attempted to destroy the tower, but only a hand full know the truth. You first heard about the tower during your stay at City 17. A news report urged City 17 citizens to evacuate to the tower, as the combine Citadel was about to explode. You quickly left for the train. You and a few others are the only ones to board the train in time. As you continue towards the tower, you see City 17's Citadel blow up in the distance.

GMod Tower features quite a lot of different things. Nearly all of the features have been listed out neatly for you. Each feature has been thoroughly explained.

• 15 Floors

GMod Tower is contains 15 floors of what some would call, "RPG Heaven." However, this is not always the case. Each floor appeals to different audiences. You could say that each floor has it's own genre. For example, floor 13 (Escape from Hell) contains a mission designed to scare you to death.
Traveling to and from these floors is quite easy. You just hop on an elevator, press the floor number, and wait.

• Holiday Events



Holiday events are part of everyday life, so we don't want to miss out on them in the GMod Tower.

• Hotel System



Each player that joins the game will have to book a hotel suite. The server can only hold 30 players and there are only 30 suites available so nobody will be left without a suite. However, when you leave the server after obtaining a suite it will become open for the public usage. Your earned upgrades to your suite will be saved with your Steam ID and will be loaded the next time you book a suite.

• Administration Management



Players abusing or annoying other players will be handled by online administrators.

• Save/Load Database Management



GMod Tower will utilize the power of Lua for its database needs. Everything will be saved to a MySQL server and backed up daily.

• Player and Prop Protection



The tool gun and prop spawning will be completely disabled throughout the entire tower.

• Support for 30 Players



The server will hold 30 players max. We feel that 30 GModers is enough.
