Europe In Ruins Mod for Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Europe In Ruins review

I never really played RTS games online, I found it far too bigger jump from playing in single player. I liked to use small amounts of units and to execute sound tactical moves etc, and online it was just spam this spam that, so i could never really get into it.

The same was with the original Company Of Heroes, even though it pronounced more tactics, spam still was the daddy online, once again that pushed me away. So why do I like Europe In Ruins, an online only mod? Simple it caters for everything I wish for online: non-spam, tactically sound game-play, great community, deep company management out of game (more on that later) and hot babes - well OK not the hot babes but seeing that so much has been achieved you get the feeling it should!

Now for the experience: when you first log on it may feel daunting, you must create a forum account then sign up for the war in the war control panel, but believe me it only takes a few minutes and from this point on it is all up to you want happens, you choose how you play, there is lots of choice even out of the game. Do you like playing en-Mass with heavy artillery or do you like elite troops with heavy tanks? so your first choice of axis or allies is a huge step to begin with (of course you can make multiple accounts so don't feel binded to one side), after that you must choose which doctrine you want to be. Those of you who have played Original Company Of Heroes and Opposing Fronts will recognize the names but the rest will be completely new; all the doctrines have been completely revamped with more choice and more power! so you will be able to find one that suits you.

Europe In Ruins (EIR) is completely persistent, so once you have made your company - don't get too attached, as your first few games will probably see it getting wiped out! But never fear! EIR has a steep learning curve ,especially for those new to Company Of Heroes as well, but once you are over it EIR comes into its own for you. And your company does ,after a while ,reflect you and how you play.
