The New Era Wallpaper pack
Dec 06, 2007 Wallpapers 7 commentsA collection of 3 cinematic wallpapers for the Star Wars: The New Era mod

Star Wars: The New Era is the first large Star Wars modification made on a next generation engine. It is produced by Invision Games, a group of modders and Star Wars fans that have evolved from the Movie Battles 2 community and a mod team working on "Star Wars: Source" before.
The New Era - what does that mean?
The goal behind TNE is to create a Star Wars mod that not only appeals to fans due to its authenticity, but also takes advantage of the latest technologies in game design. While other engines come and go, the VALVe Source Engine enables us to let the mod grow together with the engine.
The engine allows us to create a Star Wars mod with the most intense atmosphere you experienced so far on the PC.
Gametypes
TNE starts off as a multiplayer modification, but a singleplayer is in the planning stage as well. We follow the goal of providing fun and challenging gameplay for every taste. While some players like fast gametypes like Team Deathmatch or Capture the Flag, others prefer more tactical gametypes. Some like guns, some love lightsabers.
Invision Games tries to provide all of this in one mod. As a result, the workload is very high and thus, we are heading towards an episodic release strategy:
Features
"An elegant weapon from more civilized times"
Star Wars: The New Era will introduce to you a well-balanced combat system not only consisting of ballistic weapons from the Star Wars universe. You will also have the possibility to engage in Lightsaber duels. Instead of an arcade system, we will provide to you a tactical Lightsaber combat system which can be used against Force users as well as gunners.
"The Force can be a strong ally - or a terrible foe"
VALVe's implementation of the Havoc physics engine has already proven to enrich gameplay and fun in Half-Life², seeing the many fans of the Graviton Gun. We proceed even further and provide your favourite heroes with Force powers as an effective, yet balanced weapon against others.
"An extensive space saga"
Authenticity is one of the key aspects in TNE. With highly detailed settings from the movies and expanded universe, we try to give you the best Star Wars experience possible. Part of this authenticity is also a server-side setup that will allow you to select between the eras of the Star Wars universe: Fight during the Clone Wars or the Galactic Civil War - the choise is yours.

Hi Lindsey Buffy want this mod
cant wait to release ;)
Buffy
what kinds of weapons will we see, other then lightsaber and blast-pistol?
For your lightsaber problem my i suggest taking a look at the jedi knight games for that, and take a look at the coding for that...?
Sweet, thanks, i can't wait for the mod to come out
In response to Jonny's question, yes we have a full set of animations for each gun including reloading :P
Ah crud, I missed reading the post two below mine on my first read-through. Nevermind about the question and good luck with the mod!
I'm sort of curious... has LucasArts been contacted about possible copyright infringement? I'm completely for this mod but I have a bad feeling when they find out about it they're certainly going to send out a cease and desist...
okay, it looks beautiful, but i do have to ask you, in the many star wars shooter games that has been made, you never really see how they reload their blasters, take the stormtrooper blastrifle, it only has 100 shots in a powercell, how do they reload it? will we see that?
not according to the fellow I chatted with on a tour there last week, according to him mods like this are allowed as long as don't try to turn a profit from it in anyway. A look at the many other star wars mods around here that are still running shows that LA isn't much into the shutting down of fan projects anymore.
Oh yeah, I dont think LucasArts will be happy with lightsaber and force power battles. I remember they said that mods can only be non-jedi stuff like guns and stuff.
