Following hot on the heels of Darwinia, this month's PC Gamer UK carries the news that the celebrated WWII UT2004 mod Red Orchestra, which won the 'Make Something Unreal' competition and with it an engine license, will be released standalone over Steam this January.

Quote:And so another mod turns pro: Red Orchestra, despite making its reputation as a UT2004 total conversion, will be coming to us as a standalone game via Valve's huge bandwidth."

It seems that the Red Orchestra team have been working on their game for this standalone release, so expect some significant improvements over the current mod version.

Can't wait. Best WW2 mod ever, and best realistic wargame (if not the only one that's this much realistic).

Whoever packaged the zip files for the games is a dumbass! I mean, everytime I want to play on a server, it gives me an error that I have something with a version mismatch. It's a great game but COME ON!

More people need to play this mod. There are like 5 servers for it and only about 20 people play it anymore. It's a shame because this is one of the greatest mods in the history of gaming.

NOTE: There was no exaggeration in that last sentence.

2 reasons why this seems to be the case.
1. Netcode is not fine-tuned enough.
2. Changes to the accuracy when using ironsights, and not enough inaccuracy when not using iron sights.
