S.S.F. Realism Mod 2.1
Dec 04, 2005 Full Version 0 commentsS.S.F. Realism Mod takes many factors of an already great game, and makes it better for those who play serious coop, single-player, or team deathmatch....
The Sheriff's Special Forces Realism modification takes many factors of an already great game and makes it better for those who play serious coop, single player, or team-deathmatch. This mod is not about adding a bunch of uniforms or guns, but rather improving the existing items in the game to make your gameplay experience better. We believe in quality over quanity and we hope it shows.
Weapon/Gameplay Changes
AI Changes
Most of the AI changes are based on difficulty. Easy setting will not seem much different, whereas Elite will be much different!
Single-Player Changes

How come it still says 'Police' on the back of the uniform. How do I get it to say 'Sheriff' ?
"I'm just curious, when you say "Recoil, aim factors and several other factors increased for much more realistic weapons handling" does this mean the recoil is more realistic, or is it just your gun goes flying upwards whenever you hold down the trigger?"
Really late reply, but with the mod, shooting is much easier than in the original game. You can easily nail suspects if you are walking, and even when you are fast walking at close ranges. Controlling your weapon is only an issue if you spray full auto. Single fire and burst mode is very accurate and controllable.
Basically the mod modifies a lot of *gamey* elements that made the simulation unrealistically harder in favor of something more realistic if you were part of a hight trained team of marksmen.
For anyone still interested, the SSF mod has just re-comenced development with myself at the helm. The original team have just given me there source code and I will be updating the Stetchkov version of the mod from its current 3.1 version to 3.2 and beyond.
Initially the first release will address a few issues including CTD's involving AI errors and a number of maps have been improved, there will also be a big change in the friendly AI deployment times for nades, etc and I personally will be throwing a few things I think the game has sadly lacked for a long time, but for now this is all under wraps.
So till the next update, l8rs :)

Iscripters, if you have a Dual-Core processor, you need to run a program (called RunFirst).
Some Unreal-Engine based games have trouble with dual-core, and with the program you can select one processor to start the game.

Nice mod, different way to play Swat 4. Really cool!
If i dont have a taser gun and i want to take a guy alive (especially for later missions where they dont give up and you need all the points you can) I want to shoot the gun out of the hands of a staggering stunned or blinded enemy 2 yards in front of me - you would think firing a shot or two into his arm would result in him dropping the gun or at least giving up? Instead he just drops dead. A bit extreme when shooting a limb i thought. I have the settings on normal and I am fed up with loosing so many points for shooting the bad guys. It has a real stupid way of defining what is a legit or non legit use of force. You have to stand and issue a warning before firing. Its very black and white and unrealistic. If you are ambused say 2 or 3 times in a mission and you survive and just about kill the bad guy then you are down 20-30 points straight away. Just for defending yourself. You cant issue a warning when you or your team is being fired upon!
I downloaded it and was impressed, im not sure i like too much realism in a game ... but it was still worth it. I cant get back onto multiplayer games which sucks but then again SWAT 4 single player is awesome anyway. Nice mod and good job. :)
The pepperball is now extremely unrealistic. It appears that you can only effect a target if you get a headshot. Some people on it's release complained how the pepperball was unrealistically effective even if you got them in the face. This is a misconception, the OC in it spreads extremely quick. In the test videos for the weapon before it was ever released the demonstrators aimed at THE STOMACH of the volunteer and he still dropped instantly. Don't forget it fires like a paintball gun which as anyone whose played or even heard of the sport knows: hurts like hell.
And the Taser still has only cartridge. This weapon is a little out of my expertise but I have never heard of a taser only carry one set of darts at a time...maybe generic knockoffs but nothing from the brandname. This weapon also usually incapacitates suspects for the few seconds. A ragdoll is more appropriate than a "get on your knees" reaction.
