ZPS Windows Full Build v1.25b
Apr 15, 2008 Full Version 6 commentsZombie Panic: Source version 1.25b includes stability fixes, a new weapon highlight system, and a few map and model fixes. This file is a full build for...
The basic idea of the Zombie Panic is to create solid game play that is based on a classic zombie outbreak scenario. The living dead are coming for the last remaining humans, and these survivors must fight them off and live through the day.
Everyone joins a server, in the beginning you can either choose to join the human team or you can volunteer to be the first zombie. If no one volunteers the game will pick one human randomly and the game begins. The starter zombie's goal is to, of course kill the humans while the human goal is to stay alive as long as possible, complete objectives, or even wipe out all the zombies. The catch is that when a human is slayed he will simply join the ranks of the undead, now ready to finish off his old living teammates. The humans can't tell by the player list who’s alive and who’s not, eventually there will only be one survivor still standing if all goes wrong, facing all the zombies which use to be allies, with his back to a wall. The zombies only have a certain number of reinforcements (lives), when a zombie is killed they lose 1 life from the counter. However, when a human is killed they gain 1 life. If the zombies only have 1 respawn left the humans can win the round by killing off the remaining undead left on the map.
We want the mod to feel creepy and give you a sense of desperation, and yet not take itself so seriously that you can't laugh at the way you got slayed. Overall fun and playability is the priority, where is realism and horror while important are just a bonus when possible. We want a mod that you can easily play with any number of people, even with small numbers or uneven numbers. Plus, there's a certain sense of satisfaction in tearing apart those heartless survivors who failed to protect you while you were alive, limb from limb.

It's a great mod, but i would like it more if the zombies were even slower, and if there was lesser ammo and guns. Because then you'd have no other option then to barricade yourself, and that's something what's not in every level. My most fun expriences with the mod were that the zombies broke trough our (survivors) barricade, slaughtering us all.
But great job so far and keep up the good work!
I respect that you seem to want a real hardcore survival horror experience, but if there was any less ammo and weapons the survivors would win even less frequently than they do now. I think the zombies move at a perfect speed right now. If they moved any slower it'd be too hard for them to get any kills, not to mention frustrating to play as.
Slow Zombies FTW. I hate this 'fast zombie' BS that seems to be gaining popularity.
I totally agree. Fast zombies are a complete fad. They won't stand the test of time. Most of the people that like fast zombies are people that didn't like or knew nothing about zombies before 28 Days Later and the Dawn of the Dead remake. I didn't mind the fast creatures in 28 Days Later because they quite simply weren't zombies. But in terms of actual undead zombies, I don't see why a decaying, reanimated corpse should run like a track star.
slow zombies are for fags, nobody fucks with fast zombies. no lie.
Wow...thanks for the intelligent insight, no lie. So other than the Dawn of the Dead remake, (did you even know it was a remake of an older film?) have you even seen any zombie movies or played any old school zombie games?
Fast zombies can hold my attention better than slow ones can.
great mod, but tbh, the zombie speed and their damage is kinda holding the fun back. 4 hits is too much to have to deal out, and especially when zombie numbers are a bit slim their speed is a huge downside. was kinda hoping on some "28 days later" of "dawn of the dead" zombies, those thing's really scare the living shit out of you. but maybe i played zombie mod for css too much (one hit kill + fast fuckers).
also i think the mod needs way more blood :D ever played Stubbs the Zombie? now that's a decent amount of blood :p.
keep the great work comin
I hear what your saying, sometimes my finger feels like its going to be pushed straight through the keyboard when running at enemies but personally feel that just the lunge needs to tweaked. Perm fast zombies would ruin it, they look great too at the current speed they run at.
The zombie mod for CSS sucks in my opinion....
