ZPS Windows Full Build v1.25b
Apr 15, 2008 Full Version 6 commentsZombie Panic: Source version 1.25b includes stability fixes, a new weapon highlight system, and a few map and model fixes. This file is a full build for...
The basic idea of the Zombie Panic is to create solid game play that is based on a classic zombie outbreak scenario. The living dead are coming for the last remaining humans, and these survivors must fight them off and live through the day.
Everyone joins a server, in the beginning you can either choose to join the human team or you can volunteer to be the first zombie. If no one volunteers the game will pick one human randomly and the game begins. The starter zombie's goal is to, of course kill the humans while the human goal is to stay alive as long as possible, complete objectives, or even wipe out all the zombies. The catch is that when a human is slayed he will simply join the ranks of the undead, now ready to finish off his old living teammates. The humans can't tell by the player list who’s alive and who’s not, eventually there will only be one survivor still standing if all goes wrong, facing all the zombies which use to be allies, with his back to a wall. The zombies only have a certain number of reinforcements (lives), when a zombie is killed they lose 1 life from the counter. However, when a human is killed they gain 1 life. If the zombies only have 1 respawn left the humans can win the round by killing off the remaining undead left on the map.
We want the mod to feel creepy and give you a sense of desperation, and yet not take itself so seriously that you can't laugh at the way you got slayed. Overall fun and playability is the priority, where is realism and horror while important are just a bonus when possible. We want a mod that you can easily play with any number of people, even with small numbers or uneven numbers. Plus, there's a certain sense of satisfaction in tearing apart those heartless survivors who failed to protect you while you were alive, limb from limb.

Yo,
So well, the guys over at Gamefire.com selected Zombie Panic: Source as their Mod of the Month and asked me to sit down for an interview with them. Below is a link to said interview-
(Warning: Was 2am in the morning and as most of you know I don't sleep and with a cold I'm gonna sound a bit nasally and a bit under the weather which Brad at gamefire.com was very kind to ignore hehe)
Also for those of you wondering about progress, we're currently testing a new build that improves stability and things are looking good as well as working on the large content patch. Will be releasing some new media to show off some of what's going in so keep an eye out.
On a more personal note my wife and I (Tatsur0) just found out we're having our 3rd child!
Thanks,
ZP Development Team

Patch including all content from ZPS 1.2 and the recent hotfix.
This hotfix is for server owners and replaces a bad server.dll resolving lag issues on v1.2b servers.

Is this mod dead? I installed it and tried to play, it said that it couldn't find any servers because it couldn't connect to the master server?
Currently ZPS is the most active HL2 mod and has been for a bit now. You're welcome to hit up our forums and discuss the problem in more detail. Could be a firewall or other restrictions on your end but again it'd be best to google, run through basic troubleshooting on your end, and if all else fails we'll try and help you with your problem on our forums.

Holy bacon, this is the best mod I've ever played!
Took a while to download, but I have a feeling it's worth it. :)
Wow. That is amazing! Great job guys. :)
Orange Box has a fantastic mute feature!
I don't care for it at all either. It's just mindless action. I mean, with infinite ammo and weapons available at the touch of a button, there's no sense of survival or horror. It's more for action fans than horror fans. Not to mention it's just a server script. It's not so much a full-fledged mod as it is an extra gameplay mode for css. As I said before, it's an action game. It has no survival horror elements, nor any real strategy elements for that matter. Although zps currently only has one official objective map, it's absolutely necessary to work together and use strategy for both teams to succeed on that map.
Probably the worst thing about Zombie Mod though is not the game itself, but the fact that it seems to be immensely popular with the 10-12 year old crowd. There hasn't been a time where I've played this game (css zombie mod) where the voice chat wasn't completely spammed with the constant, high-pitched squeel of screaming preteens.
Just so everyone knows, the above comment is in regards to the Zombie Mod for css, NOT zps. It was meant to be a reply to a previous post someone made about Zombie Mod for css sucking. I posted it as a reply to that comment, but something screwed up and here it is on the top of the first page. Oh well.
What he said :)
I'm pretty sure moving to the ep2 engine was all part of the "Zombie Bling" April Fool's joke. It says they will be moving Zombie Bling to the ep2 engine, after all.
