Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!

We are pleased to announce that a new teaser video for Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat Beta 2 has just been released. Please take your time to watch it, as it shows some of the most important features included in this new release -including some of the new weapons, improved areas on the maps, the new Ins_Samawah, Commander options, changes to the HUD and objective markers, player customization and and weapons selection screen.

We would like also to update you on several important questions regarding the final release date of Insurgency Beta 2 server and client files:
We know there is quite some expectation regarding this new release, so we want to let you know exactly how things are going: there are still 17 open tickets in our development tracking list, and they are the subject of all our attention. The recent beta tests helped us identify quite a few of them, and while some issues are related to the overall look and feel of the game (mainly map tweaks, lighting and sound issues), and do not compromise gameplay (although we want to have the game polished before release), others are gameplay-affecting bugs that have to be addressed before we can release Beta 2.
We know you will not like to hear that Insurgency Beta 2 will be delayed. As this month comes to an end, we can no longer guarantee an October release date, but we are working hard so that it won't stretch too far into November.
The downtime of our website and forums we experienced in mid-October has played its part on the delays in the testing and bug-fixing process. However, most of the delay is being caused by the sheer amount of content included in Beta 2 and the need for adequate (read: huge amounts of) testing. We are sure that the result will be worth the wait. We cannot yet give you an exact release date, but you can be sure we will update you on this as soon as possible.

"Your map [maps/ins_almaden.bsp] differs from the server's"
... I got this on every server I tried to go in, is there some way to fix it? I have downloaded the patch along with the game.
This game isn't bad, but its very hard to play the game as a beginner.
I joined a server and i died very often. Maybe i have to play it a bit longer :)
Does it have any kind of bot support???
i am downloading this right now, this is the best looking game ive ever seen, with aspects from CoD4, HL2, and Counterstrike, the which are great games! cant wait
Insurgency is very nice in all aspects, and I respect the team for putting such hard work into it.. but I can't play it due to the iron-sights. It disorients me too much to use them since it takes up the part of my screen that I use to discern targets, so I am really inefficient in combat.
Is there anything I can do about this?
Not really, this happens to me aswell, this is why i dont play this mod anymore, but i enjoyed it when it didnt make me feel physically queezy lol
