I suppose we're getting into the habit of having an update on the 2nd day of the month! We are working arduously to be able to initiate beta testing soon. Before that though, we want to show off just a taster of what our staff have been doing and what they are capable of. Today, we have to show what Tolchok has impressed the entire development team with:

User Posted Image

That's a render of the interior of the M1043A1 HMMWV 'Humvee' modeled and textured by Tolchok. The Humvee will be a controllable vehicle for players in INS and that's a little preview of just what it's going to look like! We have posted a thread in our Developer's Showcase Forum that is viewable to registered members of our Forum only. You can view the thread here.

We've shown you just a sample of what can be achieved by our Art team. We still haven't shown our Level Designers' capabilities with the Source engine (many are already well known for their Half-Life or Call of Duty work). They impress the dev. team with every little update on what they can do. We are extremely eager to finally show you all what they can, but as said previously... we have a PR strategy that we are adhering to, so you'll just have to wait a little while to see!

Go to the website and do a little bit of reading. Since you are able to type, I assume that you can read. You'll then see how it's not 'like another cs clone just with vehicles,' since if you knew anything about the mod, vehicles don't play a very big role at all.

I'm surprised how people like to really generalise two modern era military oriented shooters as being the same thing. First of all, we aren't going for 'ultimate realism' because there is no such thing. Secondly, CS is a counter-terrorism themed game; we are infantry combat oriented. There is a HUGE difference between the two... I'm a trained infantry soldier and we don't train in counter-terrorism techniques which are supposedly what CS is simulating. You should do a little more reading and have a better understanding before jumping to such conclusions as it really insults your own intelligence into the matter.

Chill..man

His assumptions were reasonable given the smattering of mods which purport to be based on "Real life modern combat" whether Army, or Counter Terrorism sims.....

Argyll, you have obviously never played CS. Nobody goes around like they are a member of the Seals or SAS, they rush and fuck about and go crazy. In many people's eyes, this mod is pointless. So what if you have nice over-poly-limit models and shit, you have nothing new in terms of gameplay, apart from as you say in your forums 'realism'. So yes I have researched your mod and I've been folowing for a long time and from what I've read you offer CS with realism. Whether it plays differently, we'll have to wait and see I guess.

its not going to do your mod any favours being so hostile towards people, however misguided you think what they're saying maybe...

Yes, I am quite biased since I have created this and don't envision it as being similar to CS at all. I have played INS, and you have not... so I know how it's going to be in comparison. Yes, I have played CS and know how it plays through.

The way that you're putting it, you can say that CS or INS is the same as any other first-person shooter. There's a lot more to gameplay than the shooting of the opposing team. There is no bomb defusal, no hostage rescue... but there is securing of key locations through out the map. One thing that you may or may not know about is level design and its impact on gameplay. A CS map won't play very well at all in INS and vice versa. There is no buy system, weapon damage is different, the usage of weapons is even different, the player movement is different. All those things affect gameplay. How long have you been playing games for? How long have you been actively involved within a mod's community? Ever been on the development or even at least on the testing side of a mod? I'm not saying that I am smarter than you when it comes to this sort of thing, but I do certainly have a lot of experience in the area.

Sorry for the double post, but the new comment came about while I was posting the previous.

@ DrZais - I'm not trying to be very hostile about it. Would you appreciate it if your work was easily and quickly dismissed as being something that you, and many others, believe it to not be?

would you appreciate it? no. would you accept it, move on, and prove to us how good it is when you release it? yes.

Personally the interior of that vehicle is really a minut addition to the screenshots i'd expect with your team's size and "skill". I'm not downing it, because to down it i'd just dismiss it, instead i just don't see that picture as astonishing or the mod any different from the array of pre-existing modern infantry combat first person shooters. Now of course you`ll take offense for a bit if someone insults your mod or your work you spent a lot of time on. But truth hurts, sorry.

Many people will enjoy the mod and see how it is not a CS clone. Just wait and see. Argyll is just full of joy about his project and if you are a mod leader and some one claims your mod is something it isnt you would do the same thing and try to clarify.

Looks interesting, but it's going to need more than nice models for me to care.

If the gun handling is similar to Call of Duty's (not too accurate but usable from the shoulder, very accurate but slow movement/narrow field of vision with iron sights), you can count me in.

I'm watching Insurgency and will download it the minute it comes out. If it doesn't play like CS, then it'll stay installed; if it does, it'll be uninstalled. I won't judge it until I play it.

What is wrong with some of you fuckers? Why must you ALWAYS find ways of putting others down? Did your parents not love you enough?

What's wrong with you people, honestly? You never have anything constructive to say, just want to bitch and moan. You're creeps, that's what you are and spoiled scumbags.

As a fellow developer, it sickens me/us to see this from the community. Listen, stop letting envy get in the way and accept our free labor as a gift! We're putting in our own hours upon hours of our own time just to hear negative feedback. Listen, just shut the fuck up and die or find a deeper hell then this existence. You belong there, honestly.

Mr Kadish that is assuming a bit much...

I'm an INS team member, plus I am staff here and I can tell you this now. Most likely it is the people who are trying to bag the mod that are unregistered, because most of the guest posts are putting the mod down.

Btw for those of you who doubt us, we will take your words as inspiration for us to continue and prove you wrong. And for a completly random fact we currently have the largest community for any unreleased HL2 mod (afaik). Obviously these people all doubt us :P.

as far as i know, there is only one real game built on source that has been released to the public. Some vampire thing. Go play that until something else is released.

I would rather not have little picture updates, but instead be told when I can download a working client and play online.

Your letting us rip the edge of a wrapped xmas gift and peek inside. I say plow us over with a beta release.

However it goes its not for us as clients to argue or demand, all we can do is take what we can get. Right freeloaders?

Argyll, I find this statement funny. Two weeks ago I watched you pretty much invade a news post for another mod and begin to "quickly dismiss" it with your remarks. Seems people would appreciate you guys more if you did not act like snakes all the time.
