Dystopia is a is a total conversion of Half-Life 2, currently under development by Team Dystopia, which places the player into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As either Punks or Corp Mercenaries the player will fight through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensional representation of the world's network. Inside cyberspace players will launch programs to hack into systems linked to the physical world while fighting off enemy hackers and defending critical systems. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, some are completed in either the physical world or cyberspace, others only by a well timed combination of the two. I'm sure many of you saw this coming. Dystopia won last week's poll results with a unbelievable high number. I believe it beat Day of Defeat in terms of Half-Life 2 mods. So this month's Mod of the Month is Dystopia. This month Joe has also taken the liberty again to write the motm. I wasn't particularly blown away by Dystopia but however, I am definitely aware they have deserved this award. This being a demo, I really do have high expectations for their full release, and in the long run, i know they'll amaze me when it's done. So congratulations to Dystopia, probably one of the best Half-Life 2 mods out there.

Now now Joe, calm down, some people don't actually realise the relationship between Dystopia and ModDB.

If you've played or even looked at the mod and what the mod team have achieved you should agree with this award being presented to them (unless your some anti-hl2 person or something).

Congrats Dystopia

I personally don't like the mod but you can tell the amount of work they have put into it is far more than any other hl2 mod at them moment. So even if I don't enjoy it. It's a well deserved award congrats guys.

Dude, lighten up. We all need help when modding from time to time, they've put their time and hard work into the mod. Do you know them? - No. So don't criticise people you don't know. If your so jelous of them actually getting valve's attention, and the communities then why don't you make a mod that'll get their attention too. They've obviously had some great skills to bring it this far to a release and an enjoyable mod to play. Hence why its MOTM - their own work, their own concept, their own mod. So i think you should think before you post next time. Im sure you do have at least one brain cell...

We are fans of Dystopia like valve and most other people are simply because it is good, and does deserve the notice. We try to help all mods / all games and won't focus on any in particular.

Make something comprehensive like this, and I'll bet people sit up and take notice. Having said this, mod making is a tough and occasionally unrewarding process - so you have to work through that

Valve don't actually help them much at all, sure Valve recognised them early on and flew a couple of members over to thei offices, but Dystopia like alot of other HL2 mods out there was crippled by the Source update they released for Day of Defeat : Source.

On the mater of Dystopia being in bed with ModDB, the only connections between the two is really me. I am a beta tester for them, and the mod and mod team do not recieve any special treatment from me here at ModDB, sure if they come to me for support then sure I'll help them out, just like any other mod that may come to me for support.
As for ModDB and Dystopia teaming up for Free-Play 2005, we were asked to bring along mod content to show off the modding side of the Australian Gaming Community, and Dysopia being one of the, if not the best looking mod to rear its head out of Australia, we thought it'd be good to take them along. Dystopia were already in contact with the folks at Free-Play trying to organise their own thing, so in essence we just teamed up to show of ModDB and Dystopia, using eachothers resources to make eachother look as good as possible.

The award is nothing compared to the amazing sex! The ModDB guys are great lovers. :)

Or maybe they just like our mod. Fancy that, people running a site about mods enjoying and supporting the work of modders.

I really like this mod. I really like the fact that there is real team work needed to complete objectives. Also the whole cyber space and meat space thing, pretty freaking sweet. I cant wait for the release! Woo Hoo! go dystopia!
