Empires is a mod for Half-Life 2 which will combine the genres of real-time strategy and first person shooter. Each team has four classes to choose from (scout, rifleman, grenadier, and engineer) with unique weapons and skills each. One player will become the commander by entering the team's command vehicle to build the team's base and lead his team to victory. Once your base is built up, purchase vehicles from your team's vehicle factory to open up another facet of Empires' gameplay. Vehicles can be customized with unique weapons, armor, and engines. The commander can research improvements to all aspects of vehicles such as longer range cannons, homing missiles, and armor-piercing machine gun rounds. Once your team is prepared, lead an assault into the enemy base. The enemy team is defeated when all players are wiped out with either no place to respawn or no reinforcements remaining or the team's command vehicle is destroyed.

The next public release of Empires, Beta 2 or 2.0 if you desire, will soon be available to you. After roughly twenty internal releases to our play testers, we've developed Empires into a version that is faster, better looking, bug free, and very optimized compared to the last public version (1.07). Features that people have asked for since 1.0 such as a better squad management interface, an interface to vote in a commander at map start, and others are now included. The networking code has undergone some major improvements. Many people were satisfied with 1.07's networking, but that wasn't good enough for us. With Beta 2, we've optimized the networking code to use 50% less bandwidth compared to 1.07. Our internal testing sessions have reached up to 46 players in a single game.

This will update an Empires 2.0 server to 2.1. Empires 2.0 server is required.
This will install Empires 2.1 for Linux or Windows servers. Empires 2.0 is not required.
This will patch Empires 2.0 to 2.1. 2.0 is required.
This will install Empires 2.1 and does not require Empires 2.0.

real good job, but in my oppinion you should spend some time on the weapon models and i in learning english, i know.
but the gameplay is already working well. no performance problems even with 40 players is an amazing experience.

the infantry battles are epic. the tank battles are epic EVERYTHING IS ABSURDLY EPIC! all it needs is aircraft and it will be the king of hl2 mods!
Real-time strategy and first person shooter in the same mod. This is a good combination. Empires looks great and everything works well.
2.0 has a lot of fixes from 1.7, but i wonder why the ranged rifle is wobbly, heavy rifle isnt wobly and is the same idea, and heavier. but a lot of good fixes, although now vehicles can get stuck on one another. the apc needs to be able to easily get off other vehicles. more wheels? hope for the aircraft son, they would really help defense. and i think refineries should give a bit more resources/s. very hard to do much of anything. but a lot of bugs fixed. although, did the missle turrets get less accurate and worse homing?
You can set the refinery resource rates if you have RCon access to the server.
ML turrets weren't changed as far as I know, but there are 3 different levels, and you may have just remembered the higher level ones or something like that. :)

I haven't stopped playing! This is a 10 out of 10 mod! Though I consider this like a game! I love being the engineer! Also this game requires hard team work to destroy the enemies. This truly is one of my favorite mods played. And still playing!
