Fifty years ago the first galactic sub-atomic accelerator drive was invented. More than 50,000 stars and their systems have been explored. From this exploration three notable sentient lifeforms have been discovered, each one bringing its culture, technology and problems to the people across the known galaxy. It is now year 2338 and the galaxy is a conglomeration of planets owned by large inter-racial mega-corporations that shamelessly exploit resources and planetary colonies for their own profitable gain. Despite all of the troubles, galactic trade has flourished and you are among the third generation of space-born, or people not born on their homeworld. Working for these corporations is not all bad. There's good pay, complete corporate backing and even subsidized housing. Its not so bad even if you put your life on the line every single second of your eight to five...

Corporation war is the main game mode of 2338: Human-Future. It is the game mode that is currently the main focus of the modification and will take up the most time in adding and updating features.

You've Been Hired!
Two corporations hire mercenaries of any species to fight for areas of value. These areas can be almost anything the corporations see a profit in, but it usually is something like a piece of machinery in a plant or a central operations station. Control of an area is handled by a bar graph to the right of the player's HUD. While one corporation is in an area of value, their designated color begins to fill the bar. When that color passes the black threshold line the corporation starts turning a profit on that area and is said to "Control" that area. When the corporation gains a profit from an area they will give its mercenaries a percentage for buying weapons and additional items.
You will get a standard salary no matter whether you control anything on the map or not. When you fail to control anything for too long, the corporation will give you a "boost" of money to help you gain control of an area. If that fails to produce results after some boosts, the corporation will be forced to fire all of its mercenaries (that team loses). Similarly, your corporation "wins" by accumulating a certain amount of profit or when it has more profit than an opposing team after the timelimit is reached.
After being killed you must wait for the next respawn wave until you can respawn at your corporation's drop point. All mercenaries killed during this time will respawn at once to help better attack as a team.
Mercenaries must buy their weapons from vendors as only come equipped with their designated melee weapon. Corporation endorsed vendors (the vendors located at or near the drop point) sell weaponry and items at special rates. Other vendors are scattered throughout various locations but are generally out of the way of areas as they do not like to become intimately involved. All vendors require a certain period before they can restock on any item or weapon that has sold out and most vendors can usually be killed.

Mercenaries in the 2338: Human-Future universe use a multitude of truly futuristic weapons to archieve that goal, such as:

Energy Saber
The energy saber is ineffective in most battle situations, but when last resorts are required there is no better weapon for a mercenary to have at their side. The onset of technology that allows "energized" weapons has brought these back into popularity. No mercenary would enter battle without one of these.

Multi-Scatter Weaponry
Multi-Scatter (MS) Weapons were introduced in the early 22nd century as a way to eliminate space-trash like spacecraft wrecks and exhausted asteroid cores. This type of weapon fires bursts of hot, metal shrapnel at your enemy. These weapons are cheap and the ammo is almost free since many corporations give grants to companies that clean up their space-trash. That fact makes them favorable for everyone short on cash. Their performance versus armor is weak, but when the arbitrarily shaped shrapnel hits flesh, it causes severe damage and high blood-loss.

Magnet Field Accelerated Weaponry
The magnetic field that these weapons use is able to accelerate polarized slugs to extremely high velocities. The common trademark of the MFA weapon is the telltale vapor trail that its slug leaves behind. This enables them to cause large amounts of damage to armor of any type. These weapons are highly dangerous and a few independent colony governments have outlawed them due to accidental deaths associated with their use.

Energy Weapons
Energy weapons consist of weapons that can create a damaging effect directly from their use of energy and nothing else. This description currently fits laser weaponry and a little known weapon referred to as the MoDeg. Laser tools and weaponry is used throughout the galaxy to accomplish many feats that couldn't be accomplished using conventional means.
