The Northern Excursion mod (once called the "Extreme Realism" mod) is a game-enhancement mod that introduces a new faction, the "North American Coalition" (NAC), re-introduces the jet fighter/bomber air vehicle types from Battlefield 2 and also brings back old features which were left out of the original Battlefield 2142 such as stationary machine guns, visual effects, unused voice overs and more.
In this video I am testing my autocontroller code for the NAC SAM site. The thing succesfully manages to detect enemy gunships in the area and can take it down.
NOTE: The missiles are overpowered at the moment, but in the final version it will be perfectly balanced, so do not worry.
Genuise!
Isn't it overpowered? And what happends when for ex. PAC take control of the CP where rack is?
1. It's not for defending control points on maps, it's for something else.
2. You should always read the description, we know it's not balanced. This was just a test to see the autocontroller at work at shooting down gunships.
2. Yeah, sorry :\
Nice :D!
I dunno, I'd expect a SAM to take out an aircraft with a single missile, at least blow off a wing if your aircraft had one to speak of. That is, if realism is your thing. The countermeasure should count for something though if that was the case.
Wish I could tell you more about why we're making the SAM site, but I can't since it's a secret. There is a reason why we don't want the SAM to be very powerful and also have aircraft active shields block their missiles.
EDIT: I'll give you a hint though - It covers a very large part of the map.
Hmmm... Sounds good, at least tanks and infantry will breath safe again lol, those gunships are nasty sometimes.
And well, when you don't have a good pilot, those SAMs will become some handy.
