The Northern Excursion mod (once called the "Extreme Realism" mod) is a game-enhancement mod that introduces a new faction, the "North American Coalition" (NAC), re-introduces the jet fighter/bomber air vehicle types from Battlefield 2 and also brings back old features which were left out of the original Battlefield 2142 such as stationary machine guns, visual effects, unused voice overs and more.

Factions (In order, left to right):
North American Coalition (NAC) - Blue
European Union (EU) - Orange
Pan Asian Coalition (PAC) - Green
NOTE: Even though the NAC faction hasn't been finished yet and many of you haven't played as them, you can still vote for them based on:
• The looks/theme (check the previous media to see what they look like).
• The fact that they're North American (Canada + USA + Mexico)
• Their gameplay style is more "tanking/turtling" than the other two factions (slower speed (movement + firing), less capacity, more hit points, more damage).
• That their jet fighter is a fighter/bomber - 50/50 against ground and air targets.
Mine is the European Union, although PAC technology is cool and can't wait to try out NAC.
By the way, great piece of art work!
I want to try the new NAC Walker that will be so cool, but I felt the Bianchi (European Union) the Mithcel (European Union) and the Krylov (PAC) are the best weapons.

It's easy to just side with the EU, but if you're a serious war gamer and always want to play with the "good guys" you should look at all of their policies. For example, in Skyrim I joined the Imperials instead of the Stormcloaks because while Skyrim is technically Nord territory, the racism and elitism of Ulfric and his "Nords and Nords only" policy disgusts me a bit, especially since I'm argonian. The Nords also forget that Skyrim originally belonged to the elves :P
Yeah, the rebs were a bunch of weak hobos, while the Empire had strength, dignity, and the coolest kit.
In reply to Tox(sic), the Empire did have a sucky leader (though he was cool). The later Empire had good leaders though, like Thrawn and Pellaeon.

I think it's the PAC, I like the soldier's design, and I think they have one of the best assault weapons that is the Krylov, and well, theirs tank design is very nice. BUT now with the new NAC soldier's design, well, I think I'll play often with that faction too. And well, my conclusion is that there is no favourite faction for me...now that I think...I like the three factions! .
EDIT: anyways, I've always played with the PAC in most of the games, I kinda like the old times (old factions)

EU of course! The story of this game is just amazing...
For the Pan Asian Coalition! They were abandoned and left to be eaten up by the ice as the Southern "European" forces took over Africa (I don't think the locals were happy about the EU forces moving in). So the PAC took over the abandoned areas the EU used to hold and started exploiting whatever resources were there to keep their population alive.
Both sides did what they had to do survive, I just root for the one I can connect with the most. And that would be the guys of the north, the PAC.
As much as I like the raw strength of the EU I'll go with the NAC because you know, Merika **** YEAH!

Exactly! 1984 is one of the best books I've ever read. That "Unity is strength." quote at the top was supposed to be a little homeage to 1984. It's good that somebody actually spotted that.

Though in reply to Sgt. Dan, I also side with the "Good Guys" except when the "Bad Guys" have really cool kit, like in Star Wars.
In 2142, I would say the EU was the good side, as the EU was minding it's business, trying to evacuate when the PAC came in and tried to steal the EU's land.
I completely agree with both your statements.
I don't see the EU as the "Good Guys", nor is the PAC the good guys. In war, there is no right or wrong. The PAC had to attack the EU, they were left no other choice.
As you said, the PAC started the war. War is wrong, so therefore the PAC was in the wrong-doing. It's true they faced extinction, but so was the EU who did right by defending themselves.
I wonder what happened at the last stages of the war. I mean, after the bloodshed, the EU and PAC populations would have been severely reduced. Would had it been possible for them to co-live in northern Africa? If the problem was that there wasn't enough room for them in a warm climate, what about when there actually is?
