The controller at RAF fylingdales cursed to himself as the end of his custard cream dropped into his mug of tea with a satisfying plop. He burnt his finger as he immediately tried to retrieve it, then surrendered to fate and took a gulp of the steaming hot tea, complete with melted biscuit and cream. He winced and put the mug down, slowly rubbing his throbbing finger.
Suddenly a red warning light flashed on the digital map on his wall, quickly followed by a verbal 'Launch detected' warning from the speaker. He stood and took a step back, his heart beating heavily. Flight Lieutenant Stanton, his watch commander burst into the room "What now?" He called, awaking the controller from his fear induced dream "Multiple launch sir!" He called.
"Get a fix!" Cried Stanton, quickly running to his workstation and picking up the red receiver. "This is fylingdales early warning, We have numerous probable missile launches from..." He looked at the controller as he tried to work out the references "Sir, there are too many, its definitely old Ivan though!" Stanton looked down.
"...Warsaw pact territory!" He contined on the phone. "Suggest Bikini Red, and alert the prime minister. This is NOT a drill!" He turned to another controller. "Have you got the possible targets yet?" He called, waiting for response on the phone. "Only on the first seven, probable targets identified as, Newcastle, Sheffield, Glasgow, Cardiff, Catterick, Conningsby and London, sir... more are coming through though, this is it.... first strike, and they've gone for a decapitation!" He said, still fixed to his monitor. "We're not the only ones, looks like missiles heading for targets in West europe and North America. Its definately a biggie!" Stanton swallowed hard as a response on his phone switched him back to life... ..."This is the commander of home defence, is this limited, i say again, is this a limited strike?" Asked his shadow on the other end of the call. Stanton looked around at the men in the room. "Negative sir, this is a Full-scale first strike!"...

GPMG gunner (Light Role) - Section Commander - Sniper - Signalman - Rifleman

GPMG Gunner (Light Role)
Utalising the General purpose machine gun to its full potential in a section support Role. Your job will be to operate and maintain one of the most devestating weapons in the Infantry Arsenal.

Section Commander
Due to the large influx of recruits, your training staff will pick out potential junior non-commisioned officers for specialist training. You will operate as the commander of your 8 man Rifle Section, using each mans specialist skills and equipment to maximum effeciency.

Sniper
Usually operating in pairs, well away from the Rifle Section, you will be closest to the enemy, in either a Recce or combat role, killing from a distance, or providing support or information for your mates on the front, you may be alone on the line, but your brothers stand behind you, ready to back you up!

Signalman
Communcations has always been the key to sucessful military operations. And nowhere is this noticed more than in low level infantry tactics. Using the PRC351 Radio, you will be the link man between the men on the ground, and the support offered behind the lines.

Rifleman
The backbone of any army. The Rifleman's role is to close with and kill the enemy. Using the most modern and effective equipment, or simply charging in with a fixed bayonet, no matter where you are, every infantryman is your brother, your friend, your protector.

Thanks for the requests to help us out always appreciated!

Anyway people, as some of you may know, or not know at all. My PC has been fried for two months, it is now almost in working order! It works but the fans both video card and main fan run 24/7 (literally, unless i unplug it) even when the computer is off. So I will soon return to resume my sound work.

If anyone is interested, we have a position opening in the Concept/texture department, the job will mainly consist of making Northern Ireland type murals that will be made into decals, and then pasted in and around the district. he beauty of this is that you dont even have to be super skilled, as im sure people running around with radiation sickness and trying to fight a war, are not gonna have the time or inclination to create Jackson pollock quality artwork.

If you are interested and want to join the team, then PM me, you will need to have a strong stomach, and a good sense of humour if your going to be working on these murals.

Hello folks,

My PC is down as it has overheated. One the parts burntout so I am currently replacing it. I did some sound research at the local shooting range and noticed the diffrences between a pistol and a rifle. Which are signifigantly diffrent. I also stood at diffrent angles of the bullets from the side and even behind the targets and sound of a bullet is kind of heard. I also studied the sound of gun fire echoing. The sound can be heard like the wind. It kind of bounces off objects like buildings. Another thing I noticed is the sound of shell casings dropping and the weapon cocking noises are still heard from a distance even from 100 meters. Which if applied to 1985 would help make ways to spot/hear a shooter. Hopefully next time I will try to record some of this stuff. I have a friend who lives in the city (East Palo Alto) with one of the highest murder rate in California where shell casing from small arms is a plenty. I might borrow some to make new shell dropping sounds instead of using default HL2's. =)

At the end of research I noticed what alot of shooting games have unlrealistic sounds. I dont want 1985 to be one of them, so I will do my best.

I hope you guys enjoyed my tiny update! See you all around!
