Imagine a world where the Allies didn't win the war, nor did the Axis. Instead, the war just continued on and on in an unsteady stalemate. Welcome, to the world of 1949. In this world Germany decided not to bomb London, but instead continued its attacks on Britain's airfields. Then, the Russians lost at Kursk. Finally, D-Day fails. With these victories, Germany has managed to halt the Allie's progress. In the Western Theatre, the Allies and the Axis each plan the invasion of the other's vital territories. In the Pacific, Japan and the United States are dueling over tiny islands with giant fleets and atomic weapons. Now, the stalemate is about to be broken. Germany is preparing an all out invasion of Britain. As tough and valiant as the Allied troops defending the Sceptered Isle are, some of their leaders are beginning to that they will be unable to hold against the Wehrmacht.

Nice, but may I have two suggestions? First, the name "E-50" practically means "development model-50" (not exactly 100% correct, but pretty much its it), so can you give it some name that would fit with the official military designations? Not exactly "Panzer VIII" etc., but in that manner?

And second, can there be a version with pronlonged turret, like in World of Tanks has it E-50 Ausf. M? Wiki.worldoftanks.eu Maybe also with the side skirts, possibly being the top medium tank, or at least top E-50 variant :)

Hmm, why not start a thread in the forum for users to suggest a military designation or cat name for the E-50 and maybe the E-100? It could have a poll listing potential names. I'm interested in what you and the community would think is best on that issue.

Yes, I thought it might be, which means it is copyright, and they'd rip me to shreds for trying to put it in my mod.

Sorry, accidentally thumbed you down, you're right, the E-50M is fictional, while the E-50 was a real blueprint design.

Nice. I'm really looking forward to this mod.

The model looks a bit off scale though - a bit too high and narrow.

Also, if it's not a lot of work, could you perhaps add some camouflage? Later German vehicles all had it...

Edit: I guess it's the angle or something, the other shots look ok.

Actually, it probably is too narrow. I was working off of online images, so I mutated the body dimensions a bit to fit the turret. I'm still resizing the tank's pieces. And a camo skin sounds like it would be very tasteful and sensible. The grey texture was just easier to use. This version of the tank will probably be the protoype version rather than the actual production model, which will likely have side skirts, a coaxial MG, and best of all, camouflage!

Call it Panzerkampfwagen V Panther III

It was, after all, developed to replace the panther and panther II

Panther III is a good one, though I was thinking I might use it for something else...

e50 is perfectly fine for its name in my opinion, i heard the e75 would be nicknamed reichstiger but its probably not real, furthermore the V from the designation panzer kampfwagon panther was removed during the war

reason why its called E-50 is because the Developers that made the tank back in the 40s was called Entwicklung, since they were trying to make a modification between a JgdPanzer IV and a Panther and failed they decided to call it a Entwicklung 50, the reason why 50 is because it weighed 50 tonns, and Entwicklung made 50 variants and this was the result...

personally i dont think it needs renaming, if you do then you'll get haters coming around saying "yarghh its not a Panzerkampfwagon V blahblahblah its a E-50"

The turret looks ridiculously boxy - are they even slopped on the sides? Also I really doubt they would of used panzergrau paint at such late stage of the war. This would likely of used the ambush pattern, which was standard factory-applied in late 1945.

Yes, the sides are sloped, but not sufficiently as yet. I did say I was still working on pieces, did I not? However, the animations are done, and the tank is, by and large, complete. The texture I already commented on.

Okay, the "E" Series was a developing series that's for what the "E" stands for. The "E" series was created to make parts easier to replace and more common. Guess the most enthusiasts should know. It was the name during the developing. For instance: BMW does have internal names for their vehicles: E30, E36, E46, E60.. and soon. These names normally aren't used in public, but people do, to make clear what vehicle it really is, during service or what eva.
But the "E46" is still called "3Series BMW" while the "E60" is called "5series BMW". Taking that as a company example. It would be more common to still use Animal names and just write the variant behind.

"Pzkpfw Panther III Ausf.X (E-XX)" :)
Pzkpfw --> Tank
Panther --> What kind
III --> The numbers after the vehicles was basically replaced by the (E-XX)
Ausf.X --> Specific variant of this kind
(E-XX) --> General Kind (For engineers, maintenance/Service, repairs (in order to get the right replacements for the vehicle))

Description

Yes folks, this is not a trick, the E-50 Panzer is in game as we speak! It needs a few texture adjustments, since some parts are incorrectly sized or look wonky. The base of the turret model will also likely be widened.

Before going any further though, I would like to thank Rain and Van Adrian for their allowing me to use their Grey King Tiger Texture. I should also note that the body and turret hatch are all relic's work with some modifications by myself, Lord Wiffleby.

Now then, I do plan on maybe making another version of the tank with side skirts. However, this version was easier for the moment. I also plan on producing two other planned versions of this tank that used the same chassis.
