Welcome to Eternal Silence

Prepare yourself for an engaging first person shooter experience unlike any other.

Eternal Silence is a Cinematic Multiplayer Space Mod built on the Source Engine. It has been in development since 2003.

A massive deep space artifact from long-gone Earth was found and spawned a renaissance on the human colonies of the United Terran Forces. A gigantic assault from the UTF on the now independent colonies spawned the Neo Galactic Militia and started a deep space war the likes of which the world has never seen. Your role in Eternal Silence will be within vital strategic battles between massive capital warships. You will need your wits, your precision, your strength, your endurance, and above all your courage to take on the fierce challenges which await you.

Eternal Silence features the following:

  • Cinematic Battles between Capital Ships on battlefields as large as 32768 cubic kilometers
  • Choose between ataining victory on foot by capturing the enemy's subsystems, or be a pilot and bomb vital systems from space.
  • Fast and Furious dogfights between Fighters and other Tactical Craft in deep space. Escort you gunships to deliver a squad of marines to the enemy hangar.
  • A True Space Experience. Cut your ship's engines and drift in the frictionless void of space.
  • Action-Packed ground battles. Seize decks of your enemy’s ship, controlling or disabling their shields, weapons... Fight off the enemy and work as a team, fulfilling the role of one of many classes with an array of unique weapons at your disposal.
  • Achieve Victory by destroying the enemy capital ship inside and out.
  • A Complete Story behind the Eternal Silence universe, released chapter by chapter as a novella is available online

Will you uphold the Valor, Pride, and Regulations of the United Terran Forces, or stake your own claim in the universe alongside the brothers of the Neo Galactic Militia. The decision is yours, what will be the outcome?

More news! It occurred to us in our last update that we briefly mentioned 3 new game types coming in 3.2 without actually going into what those games types were. Here's a quick overview:

CTF:
Capture the Flag. You're basic CTF, but in space. Go to the enemy base and steal their flag and bring it back to yours. Do this 3 times (or more) and win. Use a gunship to escort the flag carrier back to the base or take a heavy fighter and suppress incoming fighters as they try to pickup a dropped flag.

Demolition:
Take a bomb from your base and bring it all the way to an enemy subsystem. The subsystem is disabled and the enemy can no longer spawn there. Do this for each enemy subsystem to win the game. Watch out! The enemy is doing the same to your base. Cut off enemy spawns near their hangar for an early game advantage. Some maps feature a single bomb which both teams can carry, similar to football.

Capture:
Much like TF2's CP mode, this is a linear assault mode where teams must fight over a small part of a larger map. The game progresses and the first team to fully capture all the points wins. This game mode is timed, and if the timer expires it may result in a draw or a win for the defending team. Capture more subsystems to gain time! A simple mode which is fun for infantry maps.

Finally, here is the NGM Interceptor making an appearance. Model and skin by Daniel Williams. This completes our ship roster for 3.2

More surprises to come! Until then, we'd invite anyone interested to join some of the great ES steam community groups out there to organize games.

you have to download some of the maps, who are played in mp. This is going on automaticly, while joining the game.
Mechwarrior, I got a few minor things to say about this mod that would be:
In the Warpath map (i don t know if this is an custum map or whatever), you should erease the UTF Spawnpoint near the L Section and the Hangar.
Nect: In this Tower x14(I guess it was x14) often appears the problem that if you spawn in the hangar, you spawn in a wall, and you are trapped then, only thing you can do is suiccide.
Thats all bugs and balancing things i found out.
Great Job anyway, I even stopped playing CoD 4 for this mod, and my friends strated to worry because i didn t play it with them ;)

Hey, those are both community maps, so there isn't much I can do. We have a bunch of new maps coming with 3.2 though, sit tight.

cool . is there a way to lower your gun so you're not always pointing it? to make it more real. no one really has there hand up the whole time. it almost reminds me a monty python sketch with john cleese when he is robbing that panty store.

It almost reminds you of it. how does that work, if you thought of that sketch because of the way you hold your gun the whole time, then it DOES remind you of it.

A good thing is to join a server even if ur alone at start, then more will probably join. I do that and it works, not all the time but try that.

I love the mod but nobody plays. I think you guys should make steam community events on a regular basis or something like that. And one suggestion... Needs more maps, I understand that there is only so much you can do in the space warfare but change the skybox and have battles over space stations and other ships it would improve the life of the game in my opinion.

Not sure where the best place to post suggestions is, but I thought here would be as good as anywhere:

First things first, I'm very impressed with the mod as it stands - one of the most professional I've played, so well done :D!

Two suggestions:

1. Iron sights - these seem to have become the standard in FPS games so the static weapon-zoom seems very outdated.

2. Change the weapon impact sound for ships. The constant HL2 metal pinging sounds strange for the scale of the craft involved. This might be an engine limitation, to do with material settings, though :P
