We've added several new formations, inspired by XVIIIth warfare. Numbering five in total, may not sound like a very impressive number, but in combination with commands, they will provide a nice diversity in tactics. You've already seen one formation in our 1st News. Today all of them will be revailed and explained.
The most common formation, allows effective firing and fast formation switch. The basics of line battles.
Double Line V.2
Double the fire power, yet double the time to switch.
Designed for a small number of sharpshooters. Reduces damage from shootout, weaker in close quarters.
Works perfectly against cavalry, nearly impossible to break. However, it does poorly against infantry and may cause heavy loses.
Why would we abandon column charges?
We have tried many times, but with current tools we are unable to make it work the way it was ment to. However, we consider keeping the option of forming a static column of troops due to its usefullnes in certain situations. E.g. formed on a slope, the column bears maximum firepower and provides fierce resistance to any kind of attack. However, this tactic requires a decent ammount of troops to work.
The AI formations
The most important feature we disclose today is the AI formation. The days od erratic warfare are finally over! The AI will advance in order, using battle line and adjusting to situation in the field. This means that AI can, and will change formations during battle especially while in apropriate range.
