I have a lot to say. This mod has it's nice moments, but it definetely also gets very annoying. The visuals, custom weapons and textures are good but that doesn't cut it. I know the dev tried to go for realism but most of the time, too much of that doesn't make it fun. didn't like the bobbing and realism options but they can be disabled so no problem there. no subtitles and not having a constant flashlight ended up beeing very annoying at some points. And why not even allow crosshair to be enabled from the console? Also being able to go everywhere is not that good, when the game doesn't properly show you what you have to do you end up just walking and walking for way too much, until it gets boring.

On a few ocassions i was so overwhelmed by enemies that i was thinkg i have something to do to escape, not just kill them all, because on a some points it seemed almost impossible, and having to constantly heal and save the guy thats with me as he just goes into enemy fire like an idiot made it even more frustrating. but even at the start of the game seems like thats what you have to do.But trust me, the beggining is easy compared to the frustrations ahead. And i say this because i really wanted to love this mod and enjoy it but it was not possible, or on rare occasions. Please take this as a constructive criticism not a hating comment.

I liked the story and the work put into this massive, you should definitely play this and i would be glad to see it getting continued!
The melee combat was disgustingly jumpy and bugged though, it made me freak out. The same goes for the ironsights, it may be intended or not, but aiming is a pain in the ***.

I will say, this mod is actually fun to play! The story is always exciting and the characters are unique. You always feel like you're part of the team when it comes to moving through levels with John. Even the bonus maps are fun as well.
However, I run into some bugs and crashes and level design issues, you just have to be careful how you navigate the level. I will give this a 9/10! Great job to Joure and his modding team!

This mod was my favorite HL2 mod, after Black Mesa. It was just so fun and satisfying. I Can't wait for episode two!

They clearly had some good ideas and concepts if mind, but the execution falls pretty short, and the difficulty isn't "challenging" so much as "unbalanced," and "untested."

Great modelling, exceptional use of the Source Engine and has a great story line. (Minimally) lacks in AI awareness.

This mod is very unique in that it is one of the only mods pertaining to post black mesa incident and pre Half-Life 2 events. I have many good things to say about it but I'm not without my gripes. Lets start off on a good foot though. This mod has some very fun gunplay and combat sequences, trading overwatch soldiers for a hired mercenary force was a good choice of antagonists that fit the time of events very well and is not unrealistic in the Half-Life universe. Adding diffrent kinds of new and old Zen creatures was also a great gameplay and story tool for emphasizing that the world was in a bad way after the Black Mesa incident. The choice of music was also a very nice touch and the composer should be commended for his work as there is some quite memorable songs within the score. As I said before though the mod does have its issues. The companion who is with you throughout the game, John is rather annoying and not someone who I was by my side throughout the game. The key to having a good video game companion is creating a character that players like and can relate to, Alyx Vance or Barney Calhoun being good examples. Also for supposedly being in the Netherlands, many of the characters don't sound Dutch. The actors were decent but could put a Dutch accent on many of their lines. This isn't necessarily an issue but something I would have liked to see is having the protagonist and John try to run and escape from the invading Combine synths rather then leaving the mod on the cliff hanger of them pouring in. These are my thoughts on the games ups and downs.

It didn't feel like there was a real story, like I was just thrown into a world without a rhyme or reason of what to do or where to go I got to the point of having a pistol(don't know if you'd consider that a spoiler) and I had to fight the toughest zombie with 3 poison headcrabs in a cramped room and little ammo and health. I went through that room 7 times before i just gave up all together.
