First of all, I would once again like to express my gratitude towards everyone over the years. Especially the fans. When I started working on 1187 I had little knowledge about making games. I ended up with something I am still proud of. Even if it's incredibly outdated and broken.

Which brings me to the 2nd topic. I am so sorry that the mod is not working. I tried to find ways to fix it myself but without the source code I just cannot get it fixed properly. And I feel very mixed about this. I want to go back end replay it myself. see all the stupid mistakes I made, the things I would cringe at if I would make the mod today.

So much has changed since then. I got married, have a little daughter who's on her way to the age of 3. I found a job in the games industry and I've moved to UE4. Gone are the days where I could just waste my time on source and hammer and make a mod. I wish I could, I want to do so much more with 1187 but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I always promised I'd come back, and a part of me is clinging onto that promise. So I won't say that I won't get back to it. But the team has also moved on, everyone's got other things to do that are more important. I myself am working on my own little project that I'm super excited about and have Robert Ducat (John's character) on board.

I hope you guys understand how things change in life and I hope some of you will check out what I'm working out when the time comes. For now this is goodbye and thanks for all the support, I truly hope to see some of you at my other project that I will announce once the time comes.

I still get requests in my inbox about fixing the mod, it truly makes me feel that I did something right. I salute you, fellow gamers, modders, developers, humans. :)

Take care !!!

Will work resume on 1187 resume once Contagion is out of beta?

Short answer: Yes. Long Answer: I am currently contemplating which path to take for 1187. I'm contemplating overhauling episode one. Cutting out parts of the mod that I didn't like and making all the maps from scratch and doing a complete story/gameplay overhaul. This means I will reuse certain assets while ditching or remaking others. It will also mean that episode one will be very different yet familiar while flowing into episode two, making it one whole mod with a beginning and an ending...

I will also be in need of a new small team since the old team has dissolved by now. So we might see some devs return while others won't.

On top of that I am considering waiting for source2, but as of now I might as well use the 2013 SDK. Anyway, a lot of stuff I need to think about. so I'll start slowly.

I didn't think the question would be that loaded but a status update is better than a dead mod.

Wouldn't hold my breath for Source 2, as it might be much of a myth as Half Life 3. As Valve will just call it Source if it ever does come out.

There's no concrete info on source2, but since I'm busy as it is I might as well wait a little while. And no, 1187 is never dead to me, just that I don't have the time to actively put my time into it at the moment.

The lack of time is a better explanation then we get from most mods.

As for 1187's plot your mod is the only one that touches on the Seven Hour War and released at all. Most are dead or just a lame map. A good story writer would tread carefully around that. Being the "first" has its own advantages and downsides.

I'm getting a problem when trying to play. When I boot up 1187 everything goes normal until I get to the main menu. Then, if I try to click "Crash Course" nothing happens, and when I try to start a new game, nothing happens and the background turns black, like it's trying to load or something. Please help, I really want to play this mod!

Hello, I run a show on YouTube known as Half-Life Saga. I saw your mod and thought it looked very promising to be made into a series. So, I downloaded your mod on Desura but when I went to launch it, I was greeted by several flashing ERROR on the main menu. When I tried to play the game, low and behold, the same error signs were there signifying some sort of missing texture and/or model. I already have Half-Life 2 AND Episode 2 installed on my computer (and have launched both of them) so I do not know where this problem is coming from. I tried uninstalling the game, reinstalling it, as well as installing the non-Desura version. I would really like to be able to feature your mod but for obvious reasons that isn't possible at the moment. If the author or anyone else who has a solution to this problem I would greatly appreciate being filled in on how to fix it.

Yeah, the Steampipe update seemed to have ruined ep2 mounted mods with custom source code in them, and currently I think the only way to fix it is if you copy over all the materials and models from ep2's vpk into 1187's folder.

I'm digging the mod so far, but I'm stuck on the first level still.

When you and John survive the vortigaunt attack in your apartment and you go to that door with the zombies behind it; I forgot what he told me to do but I have no idea where to go or what do to. All John does there is wait and I can't go outside or anywhere else I haven't been.

The visuals were okay but the gameplay was frustrating and badly designed. Nearly EVERY design decision they made was a bad one. Removing noclip, flashlight only working on some of the guns, ugly view bobbing, annoying companion whom you have to babysit 24/7. The list goes on and on. The gameplay at the start is incomprehensible. Instead of going for the tried and true design of giving the player subtle hints on where to go, the mappers opted for a "dump them in a maze with abritaryly locked doors…
