STARDROP ON KICKSTARTER

WE ARE LIVE

I remember when I started working on ElevenEightySeven so many years ago. I'll never forget that time. Times were so different back then. We didn't have the tools we have today to make or even publish games. We had our love for a game and a desire to be just like the developers and make our own games through mods and create stories with our favorite characters, or find ways to come up with our own.

That's how I started. Learning how to make maps in Hammer. Learning how to work with VTFEdit. Meeting other modders and guys just like me. I still talk to a lot of them to this day and have worked with some, Dec Doyle for instance.

And then there's you guys, the community, at ModDB and IndieDB. I owe the community so much for all their kind words over the years. The ones who still come back to the ElevenEightySevens mod page and leave a message. I mean, how much more can you ask that in a time where mods are in a decline and still have people talking about yours.

Why am I talking about that now? well, mainly because I am someone who reflects from time to time on his past and also because I have a need to make it clear that I know mine. I know that I have a lot to thank the community for. ElevenEightySeven did make it to Tenth Place in 2010. I mean to me that's still incredible. :)

Times have changed indeed and I now find myself in a world where I can actually make my own game. Write my own story with my own characters and do things that I could never do before.

It's the same drive that motivates me now as back then. Even more so now than ever before because this time I can truly write from the heart and come up with things without any restrictions.

Enough about me and my past though, it's time for STARDROP to shine. Our kickstarter is LIVE and if you guys have played the demo and want to help out, then now is the best time to do just that.

Thank you for reading !!!

I actually managed to start up the mod by doing the following:
-Download the mod file, and extract it to the sourcemods folder (be sure to save the file)
-Goto steamapps/common/Half-Life 2/ep2 and open ep2_pak_dir.vpk (Download GCFScape if you dont have it)
-Extract the materials, models, particles, scripts and sound folder into the 1187 folder (overwritten all files it asked for)
-Extract 1187 to the sourcemods folder again (overwrite all files, again)

This worked for Nightmare House 2 aswell

It can sacrifice quite a bit of space, but its well worth it than having errors anywhere

Ah... This mod brings back so many memories. Sad that its being worked on alot less...

Thanks for the help!

I needed only the materials, models, sounds and particles since the scripts broke the mod.

How do you extract 1187 to the sourcemods folder? I don't understand this part.

That doesn't really help at all. As 1187 used the SDK base and instead uses stuff from all three HL2 games.

Joure, are u gonna remake this mod into the 2013 version of Source Engine? The mod is ruined. All the elevators have "ERROR" walls, and an unreachable revolver is visible beneath the elevator floor after the ERROR elevator goes all the way down, and all the trains in the train station are gone and replaces with ERRORs, and u can't walk on trains, but zombies can. :/ I really miss it when the mod works. :'(

I wasn't able to fix it myself, but fyi it CAN be played through with these ERROR boxes. None of the gameinfo fixes that I have tried work for other mods but didn't work for this one.

It's a pity too, because it's one of the top Source mods. I have ep1,2, source sdk base, 2007 and 2013.

What the hell are you on?
(Also, you probably actually need the .gcf files for ep2. There's a link to them somewhere on the cinematic mod's website.)

I just loved that game, the end was freaking awesome! PLEASE make a sequel 10/10.

PS, This was Valve quality work, good job. I smell a sequel. Please. Sequel

The visuals were okay but the gameplay was frustrating and badly designed. Nearly EVERY design decision they made was a bad one. Removing noclip, flashlight only working on some of the guns, ugly view bobbing, annoying companion whom you have to babysit 24/7. The list goes on and on. The gameplay at the start is incomprehensible. Instead of going for the tried and true design of giving the player subtle hints on where to go, the mappers opted for a "dump them in a maze with abritaryly locked doors…
