Creatures came out of what seemed to be thin air. Animated and alive. They came without a warning and swept the world ...

well they were never traditional zombies to begin with they are parasites that kill the hosts brain and take control of the body's central nervous system. Their victims minds may be dead but the bodies are kept alive by the headcrabs for quite some time. Taking the headcrab off will pretty much kill the host body seeing as its claws & beak are hooked into the spine, brain, & nerves so yea pulling one off forcible will rip out those vitals. The headcrab can only come off if it willingly does so usually to find a new host as depicted in a old but good Half Life mod were you play as a headcrab :P

Some people I tell you, why wouldn't they have headcrabs?

Technically...Headcrab Zombies aren't really even traditional zombies. If you want HL2 zombie mods that HAVE traditional zombies, you only need to check out SMOD: Outbreak (hell even the normal SMOD has a function to switch off the Headcrabs), No More Room In Hell, etc.

yeah... I'm not sure how familiar some of you are with 1187, but this is a Half-Life 2 mod, set in the Half-Life Universe.

I really don't get this discussion about the zombies either.

It would be boring if they were traditional, the headcrabs are what makes them iconic, there's nothing like them in the world.

Without headcrabs, zombies would be bored out of their minds.

How to get an argue about Half Life zombies:
1. Post a screenshoot with blowing zombies named "Ka-Boom".
2. Success.
