"Reissues" is a community compilation of 30 single player Half-Life 1 levels authored by a mix of various designers. Each one has created their own unique, self-contained chapter: you'll spelunk into ancient Egyptian tombs, scale mile-high cliff sides, and fight your way through several clever re-imaginings of Black Mesa - among other exciting setpieces!
Why did we bother squeezing this last bit of mileage out of a decade-old game engine? Because Half-Life 1 offers a unique feel and aesthetic that makes it a timeless classic; because great gun fights remain great fun fights, even without shiny next-gen graphics; because we love what we do, and we hope you'll love it too.
Reissues, a single player Half-Life 1 modification created by a diverse group of designers in the community, has finally been released! From the same people who were involved with Project Quantum Leap 1 and Project Quantum Leap 2 (aka "Issues") - a work of love from an aging community, created for you, for free.

Looks good! Downloading... ;)
From the screenshots it looks very nice and I always have loved HL1 mods!
Echo Transit was astoundingly good. More fun than HL1 itself in fact! Worth the entire download on its own. :)
The others varied from good (Starlabs) to meh (Cyan) to bad (Sceptre of Ra). Second Wind was interesting, and beautiful, but had a terrible ending that I strongly recommend cheating through.
Anyone else got a crash to desktop at "It's safer here..." when fighting the Combine for the first time?
I had no skybox in the game itself and after the gate sequence it crashed, here.
the same here PLS UPDATE @ TEAM !!!
I had that problem too Bugles, but I just ran the WON version under Steam and it worked for me :)
This is awesome. You guys rock!
Seems nice guys. Any new wapon/enemy?
this game is good it just needs some bug fixes
Thanks for making a WON version, as Valve won't let me use my old CD-Key for half life on steam D:
Will this run on Half-Life Source???
cause i dont have the old version, just HL-S....
No HL 1 mod runs on HL:S.
It's easier to make a HL 2 mod run on HL:S because they use the Source engine, HL 1 uses GoldSource.
There are no new weapons, well, technically... Specter of Ra does have a lots of new models and model replacements, but everything does still have the same function as it used to have.
The bug with 'It's safer here' is known and possible fixes are being discussed. Though right now it's a bit difficult since the mapper is unavailable for the time being.
The CD key not working on Steam is annoying and I can safely say that I've had that as well. I'm afraid the only way around it is to contact Valve support and provice them with a scanned copy of your CD, CD-key and receipt of when you bought the game. Seeing as you probably do not have the receipt anymore, it's probably better just to purchase some of the cheap HL packs over Steam. That or, of course, use the WON version like you're doing... ;)
Reissues also doesn't work on Half-Life: Source. This is due to the fact that HL: Source is Half-Life ported to the Source engine. Since this game still runs on the GoldSource engine (HL1 engine) and isn't ported, it will not run on HL: Source.
Lastly; feel free to report all the bugs you encounter on our website's forums. If you do not like registering an account there, then you can also leave your bugs here at ModDB. I'll keep an eye out for new bugs and make sure they're forwarded to our forums.
Regards,

P.S.: Good to see you liked the Starlabs chapter, Varsity.. ;)
Varsity - yeah.. I'm not proud of the ending. I originally had some more complicated plans involving a Being John Malkovich style chase, but after some testing it was clear it wasn't going to work out. So, I decided to capitalize on a different feeling: disappointment and irritation.
Second Wind is pretty cool. Some of the puzzles felt kind of "fuzzy" in the sense that some of the solutions initially seemed unclear (but that's not really a bad thing, as I did eventually figure them out).
After Second Wind I tried Echo Transit and I'm ready to tear my hair out. I'm playing on medium and the fact that the army grunts never seem to stop coming is extremely aggravating. There are so many army grunts that I think it's actually having a seriously negative impact on my framerate - which is incredible to me, considering this is a game from 1998 and my system, while not the hottest system on the block, should be more than adequate. It seems like no matter what I do, two more shipping containers open up and ten more grunts pour out... forever. I appreciate the goal and the mapping seems solid, but even with the extreme abundance of health this is way, way, way too much to handle. I've actually taken to trying to stealth around a little bit, trying not to alert any grunts to my presence - which also seems impossible because they're positioned everywhere. Haven't you heard of pacing!?
Auuughhhh.
Yeah, there's no way this is at all possible for me to complete. I finally figure out where the rocket launcher is ("by the red and green buildings" is such a vague hint it actually took me a try or two just to find it) and what feels like ten times the grunts I've already been fighting pour out of everything, and all the while I'm supposed to be dodging the constant fire of the Tank's mounted guns AND rocket launcher. You honestly expect me to contend with five or six grunts, a mounted gun, AND a rocket launcher, all at the same time? On MEDIUM DIFFICULTY?
I'm sorry that I'm not some sort of Half-Life Ninja who's been obsessed with the game for ten years, and I'm equally sorry if I sound a little rude about this; I absolutely hate it when people make things overly challenging because THEY just happen to be really good at a game. Anybody can make something DIFFICULT, it's balancing the difficulty and the pacing that takes the most work, and Echo Transit does not appear to have had too much balancing. I can't imagine how impossible this must be on hard mode. Please, be more considerate to those of us who haven't sat around obsessively playing HL1 since it came out. Just because YOU can finish it doesn't mean it's balanced - the best test for gameplay is to get somebody who doesn't make maps/etc. to play through it. You know, a normal person.
Because this... no. Bad mapper. Bad! No treat! If I hear Barney say, "Aw man, an APC!" one more time I'm going to strangle somebody.
Agreed man. Echo Transit were horribly and unnecessary hard. There's just too many grunts all over the area. The mounted gun at the far side end of the map made me utter words a man should never hear during his lifetime.
A shame really because it's a nice map with some solid voice over, scripted sequences and really fantastic level design.
I remember when I was working on this project which was in a beta stage... Their maps were awesome. Each one puts you in different places playing in different roles. That was amazing and I love the idea.
I'll download this full version right now.
Good work guys!!
Congratulations on the release guys, will be playing this one soon!
Ummm.. the sky is.... well, it looks alot like noclipping.
It's Safer Here sky-of-doom bugfix:
r2d2rigo from the Spirit of Half-Life forums found a fix for the It's Safer Here skybox bug;
1. Start the map.
2. Quicksave.
3. Quickload.
4. Behold! 3D skybox without HOM that makes you wanna go on a killing spree!
Rejoice and thank r2d2rigo.
yay for good old HL!
downloading.... :)
The intro was great. Played the mod based in Blue Shift first. That ranks among THE WOST HL1 mods I have ever played. It is humanly imposible without god mode on - and WITH god mode on because the grunts will set off the final bomb by running through the trip lasers, even after you disarm it. I can't belive I reinstalled HL1 for this ****.
Well that's the good thing about Reissues; don't like on of the maps, you simply move on to some of the others.
That means you don't get to see the ending though.. D:
I played your Mod and I really liked it.
The map-design is very good and the "updated" BlackMesa look is quite great. I really like the atmosphere of the Black Mesa. Once, I created a poster which is an advertisement for the new "Black Mesa Research Facility 2012". When I played one of all those awesome maps, I remembered my vision of a rebuilt blackmesa :D
Please try something to make this mod more public! It's a totally great HL1 Mod!
Awesome Mod! I can't seem to finish Echo Transit, though. I'm stuck after Barney and the scientist teleport. What do I do next?
