The FastLane mod will be like nothing you've ever seen in Freelancer. And it's gonna be about only one thing: Racing - In Space
It will change everything - every aspect of Freelancer as you know it. After experiencing this mod, you'll never look at a space-sim the same.
The standard Vanilla Freelancer ships will be replaced by more than 90 (yes, ninety) real-life cars. This is more than any racing game/mod on the planet! All the cars will have customizable paintjobs, rims, spoilers, some will even have bodykits.
All Freelancer standard systems will be replaced by custom ones, based on real-life countries and cities.
All missions (first the bar missions, in later versions - the complete storyline) will be replaced by various types of races - Inner-system, universe-wide, drags, drifts, smoke challenges and so on. There shall be multiple racing-related quests and background stories.

The release of the Crossfire 1.8 mod with its new incredible look and features has been announced for late august 2008.
The mod itself will be massive with more than 500mb size and the deepest gameplay experience that has been developed for Freelancer. Together with our new developed FLhook extensions Crossfire will be the most complex and for sure most beautiful Freelancer mod available.

At the moment it seems there are some problems with realising the pit lane and the exchange of thrusters and refill within seconds^^
I am going to have a look to this fantastic mod - whenever its going to be released...

Ugh Only reason I'd ever consider playing this is if he added ships from WipEout.

In the first releases it will be OpenSP+MP (if I can get a server). Later maybe a unique storyline w/ cutscenes and all that stuff :)

not "only racing" but "racing only" :) okay not Only - killing npcs and pvps also.
