I got a letter this morning, I feared the worst and I got the worst, cancer of the lung, my punishment for all those years of non stop chain smoking. That was the problem with the NAM, they handed those things out like candy on a regular basis, probably would never have coped so well if it wasn't for smokes. I guess my best years are behind me. Regrets? Sure, there are many... but you can't change the past so what's the point in dwelling on it? Anyway, there's no rest for the wicked, I've got work to do, some kid ran away to a place called Pinewood Creek and hasn't been heard from since, now her father needs me to go there and find out what's happened to her. It seems the authorities aren't giving him any answers, claiming they've never even seen the girl, I guess I'm his last hope. Maybe if I find this girl, God will give me a chance for Redemption.. you know.. if there actually is a God. Well.. I guess I better get going, I want to be out on the highway before dark. Pinewood Creek here I come...'

The Forgotten is a single-player third-person survival horror game for Half-Life influenced by the likes of Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Forbidden Siren, Clive Barker's Hellraiser / Tortured Souls and Blood among other things. As private detective Jack Dawson, you will travel to the town of Pinewood Creek to investigate the disappearance of Claire Benton.

> Venture through the town of Pinewood Creek and the surrounding Diamond Lake, non-linear layouts encourage freedom of exploration.
> Interact with complex and interesting characters, find out what they know.
> Solve puzzles and riddles to gain valuable information and items and delve deeper into the history of Pinewood Creek.
> Graphic novel sequences help the deep storyline to unfold.
> Fight off hideously disfigured creatures from another realm, creations beyond your wildest comprehensions.
> Highly detailed environments bring the experience to life creating some of the most advanced areas ever made for the Goldsource engine.
> Your journey will take you through areas like Nate's Motel and Pinewood County Police Station through to Jack's own personal nightmare.

Hi everyone,

I'd first like to give a huge thanks to all the watchers and supporters that have praised The Forgotten. I've had lots of comments like 'Wow that looks like STALKER/HL2/Silent Hill 2/The Best Half-Life MOD Ever ™ etc. It really warms me to hear such comments, so cheers very much and a special thanks to Setis of the Half-Life 2 mod under the same name for being so cool about sharing his title's namesake! Sometimes I think to myself I'm wasting my name making this game, especially on such an 'old' engine but looking at other projects and speaking to people in the community I've found that there's a large fanbase for Goldsource and there's still plenty of life in the old dog yet.

Secondly, work on TF has been very slow as of late, due to starting a new full-time job and having little to no time at all to work on it. Things have settled down a bit now and I find myself able to work on bits and pieces in most of my spare time (not all.. I need to get out and about once in awhile and y'know.. live a life). Indeed, I'm hoping to get a new media release finished by the end of June whereby I can reveal more of the creature/character concepts and screenshots from late WIP stages and/or completed areas.

In the meantime, watch this space :)

cgtextures.com is my primary resource, then random Google searches. To make them I use Paint Shop Pro / Photoshop 7, followed by 10 years experience of random texture art!

I don't even know what urban dirty is.. :P

GOLLY! Thank you for that CGTextures site! That's really useful when it comes to full wall textures etc.

Urban Dirty has detailed, close shots of, eh, dirty urban scenes :D You should google that site out.

God dang it, I wanna learn making textures like you! What programs do you use and what sites for texture bases (if you use any)?

I just use Photoshop CS2 and Urban Dirty for textures.

I usually backup onto DVD and another machine daily, I've done that ever since I lost an 8GB Hard-drive back in the day...

Well, the hard-drive is being read as a slave and the data is fully intact, so I've gone ahead and backed up the other files I didn't have stored before. I'll be doing a virus/spyware scan on it just in case something has crept in, I usually scan things before transferring them over but there's a slim chance something could possibly have sneaked in, we'll see.

Good news is that the TF data is 100% backed up, so nothing has been lost at all.
