You are an old-school level designer, or just decided to become one, but tired of limitations of Valve Hammer Editor? Radiant seems to be too complex...

really cool profile ! hope we can be friends :D
Your Jackhammer program is so cool and very popular :D thanks for developing! :)
Thank you for using Jackhammer!
Never succeed to do anything in mapping, in any software. Tried GTKRadiant, Quark, UnrealED, SeriousSamED, etc.
I never succeed to do anything, but with Jackhammer OMG!!!! So simple, so fluid, it works I love it, im currently making my very 1st own map for Hexen II.
I wanted to try/dig around to make it work for Heretic II but no succes at all.
Do you think, XaeroX, Jackhammer could handle and be able to create Heretic II maps (.bsp) ?
If someday Jackhammer could handle Heretic II game my life will be complete xD <3
Thank you very much again ^^
You're welcome!
Heretic II is not supported because AFAIR there is no source code. To use it with JACK, I have to introduce some modifications to map compile tools, and probably add its texture/model format support.
Hi! I have one problem with the old Hlfx mod.
The thing is i loved that mod but today i tried to open it and it sayed:
Failed please hl.exe.
If you can help me please.
Thank you.
Xaerox I sent you a pm, see if you can give an answer please :) thanks a lot and I hope im not bothering you :( take care!
TLDR; Please add shortcut alt+A/S to decrease/increase grid-size.
Greetings!
I just found out about Jackhammer, and after installing it and starting to work it didn't take long before I realized that it is superior to VHE.
There is however one problem that makes me not want to switch over to Jackhammer: the shortcut to increase/decrease grid-size isn't alt+A/S but the [ ] keys.
I'm Swedish, using a Swedish keyboard. I have to add english keyboard support and switch back and forth constantly. Not to mention either let go of the mouse, or move my other hand over to the [ ] keys.
Having the alt+A/S shortcut is a lot better, and this would make me switch instantly+donate.
Thank you and have a very nice day!
Hi,
Unfortunately it is not easy to add new shortcuts. Especially Alt+key shortcuts because they often conflict with existing - many Alt keys are already in use (simply hit Alt and look for underlined chars in the titles of button/menu/etc.).
I've made two workarounds for you. First, I've added Swedish char codes for '[' and ']' keys (although for ']' key, you have to press it twice due to a specific handling of diacritical marks). Second, I've added an option to change grid size with a mousewheel, while holding Ctrl key. Both changes will be available in the next release.
Hth,
XaeroX
